  2. Hi everyone! No posted here very often! For this year i have 2 guitar projects running! 1 guitar is a very well know guitar around rock music and i am sure i won't have to explain much about it as people have probably allready heard the legand of it! So heres a few pics of one i made and the other in build......... RS neck Finger board Both RS guitars Heres my second quite different! this is my A level project for this year quite different! It is a traveller guitar which is smaller than a normal guitar. Still waiting for its parts due very soon i am sure ( i hope), what do you all think?............... Open Traveller Traveller closed Hope you enjoy that is if you can see them! cheers mattw Red Special
  3. Basicly the Brian May tremolo is a balenced / Floating tremolo unit. The knife edge (the plate on top) Acts as a pivoit point. When the tremolo arm is pushed or pulled it rocks/ pivoits on the knife edge plate. Hope this helps! - Body plans well i have no full size plans at all and also my scanner is not that big! But i can send all the information I have! cheers matt
  4. Ya thats the other reasons High action luckily 2 pieces of phone top up card did the trick I shimed the neck to give it a lower action! cheers matt
  5. Hi I am new here, my names matt if no one guessed! I have a major guitar making passion! I made my first guitar between the age of 16 and 17, i finished it in september 2004. Its based around Brian mays Red special which he made over 40 years ago! The body is made of walnut, with a mahogany neck and rosewood finger board! The tremolo is a knife edge tremolo with a schaller roller bridge, has stayed in tube ever since it was finished! Former site:- Red special making This year 2005 i started my second which is going to be (i hope) 100% accurate to the original! so far the neck is complete and i wait the arrival of the custom made tremolo and bridge! I decided to make another because it was my first go and a few things were wrong like buzzing strings! another reason is that its heavy ! This one is alot lighter and has the original sized neck! 4 red special making let me know what you think and critisisum welcome! cheers matt
  6. Hi everyone I am new around here although i have been looking at the project guitar website for a while to help me with my project! For a while now i have been obsessed by Brian May's Red Special guitar which was made some 40 years ago! I finished my first replica in august 2004, and now in 2005 I started my second! I have 2 websites running for people who want to make there own and to help others, due to the accuracy of the new one most of it has to be kept secret! Here are my 2 sites:- Making of a legend 3 legends in the making please let me know what you think of my work i am only 17 and have got a name for my self as being the youngest ever to make one! cheers mattw
