  1. Now this is a great soloution.... I simply feel that the epi headstock looks... bad.. it's not really the name that kills me... thanks..
  2. I take the fictitious assumption that I am a criminal seriously and heartily. The simple fact is that I used to own a few les pauls and prob could affoard one fairly easily…… But I’m building a home and already have 5 or 10 guitars… …..it is more of a “I miss em’ thing.. I did not ask how to forge a serial number or build a fake guitar….. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Anyway, Has anyone here done this?
  3. I've seen a few on evay.. epiphone to gibson conversions..... Sooo.. How hard is it to convert an Epiphone Les Paul standard headstock to Gibson Les Paul standard? What's the best way to do it?
  4. OK, Here's the other issue... I see "unloaded" "not plywood" stat bodies go for 55-60 bucks all day long on ebay... these are almost certainly johnsons or indiana guitars..... the body sells for 55-60 but the whole guitar was only 100 - 118 NEW and COMPLETE... so there is a market for "generic" strat parts as well. the seller then sells the pickups and neckplate as well as the neck for a few more 20$ bills... it WORKS and the proof is in the pudding. A big apple strat neck went for 200-250... the whole guitar goes for 450... the case goes for 55-60 the bridege another 35.. and so on I feel that PARTING OUT is profitable. (but I disagree with the premise) altogether; interesting....
  5. I looked up "tonewoods" but what is the diff between red-maple and hard maple? are either of these better for necks?
  6. Like he said, look up in the warmoth site. http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks....fuseaction=faq2 ← Ahh yes, I hate it when people do not do therir homework (Me in this case) hehe thanks guys.
  7. I suppose that is a nice way to look at it.. " buildiong guitars is kewl"... but how hard is it to copy a strat body.. paint it and sell it..? They go for between 125 and 225 all day.... I guess that the part that make me sad is that for 50 plus years some of these guitars hav ebeen cherrished and now they're taken to pieces to get a few more bucks out of them... keep in mid that a 50's strat is almost certainly worth more together sot these arent usually the target.. it's the late 60's and up... but hoe does one tell if it's a real strat body they've got..???// and i guess if you can't tell it does not matter.... right?
  8. Does anyone get a bit .. sad when they see all these torn up strat parts being sold on ebay? "vintage 68 body" or... "clapton v-neck" I kinda get a bit upset thinkinf these guitars are being sold for parts... and howmany of these parts are imitations? "I smell fraud"... just venting...
  9. I'll rephrase the question. can the body be routed to accept the "rouned heel" or is the geometry of the scale all wrong... :D
  10. Is the route for a teleneck wider AND longer than a strat neck? can a strat neck fit a tele body? ( I already have a stew-mac strat neck and want to build a "double - fat - tele)
  11. I had a 75 Les Paul Deluxe that was 2 pieces o with a 3 piece maple neck..... that guitar was MORE solid than any guitar I have ever owned.. it was AWESOME...
  12. yeah I wonder .............. after a test fit.. then glueing ... then drill out the dowels.. that would be quite stron I would guess.....
  13. I wonder of the "finish" on the saga body would take the glue well.. that's if it has that finish on the pocket....
  14. Could one Glue a saga ht-10 neck on making it a set-neck guitar? is it feasable?
  15. Wow it took me a long tome to get that one.... Same place as larry's ash!!! whew.......... man,,,,
  16. wow thats some serious insight..... Hmm, wind causes the flames PS: I just realized that I keep quoting full posts... I'll stop that habbit.. I JUST GET EXCITED!!!!
  17. Interesting.. I think I'll look around for some..... One tree will supply PLENT of tops... of course this stuff prob takes forever to dry... bt I did find a local kiln...
  18. This page states where it's grown... http://www.irionlumber.com/mapprod1.htm ......And it seems that it may be growing in my back yard..... I was looking into using the ash from the lot where I'm building my house... but curly and flamed maple!!! Now that's a harvest... I wonder how many year's I've been burning this stuff in my stove!! (don't flame me for that plese) ← Evidently sugar maple produces "flamed and burl and curly maple" I'm still truing to figure out how to determine if these "figures" might exist in any of my wood. This seems to be a informative woods page... http://kytary.muzikant.cz/stavba/wood_faq.htm

  20. Just wondering if anyone knew where "curly maple comes from" (I feel like a kid.. mommy where do babies come from )
  21. Just wondering how thick the top wood needs to be to carve it into a les paul type top.... Thanks.
  22. I do want to preserve the natural aspect of my new home.. that's why I drive 50 minuted everyday to get to the city... I've come to love nature and want nothing but the best for my trees
  23. Well I guess that would be a more simple answer abyone know what cherry sounds like.. It was mentioned as a top on the tonewood list but not as a body.... .
  24. Eww... I wonder how "bright" that wood would be... and does that require me to use it like a slugger (jimi hendrix action) ???????????????????
