  1. Hey I would like to thank everyone at projectguitar that helped me learned how to put finishes on guitars. Thanks to you guys a local music shop and I have worked out a deal as to where I will be making Custom finished guitars for them. I am so excited and couldn't wait to get on project guitar and thank everyone! I have decided since everyone on here has been so helpful ,that when my first sale goes through ,I am going to donate some money to the forum. Thanks again

    Steve :D

    Congratulations man!! :DB)

  2. The crappynity series is the lowest priced/cheapest/crappiest of all of the squier models out there.

They go between 150-180$ usd new. Cheap cheap cheap, as stated earlier. Only good for spare parts in my opinion and even then that'll be very crappy spare parts.

With the $150/£80 mark in range, then £30 for what is basically a brand new un' seems fair play to me :D

I mean by NO MEANS am i suggesting ill be using this in the studio or when live but it does to jam about when at school so i have no fears of me knocking crap outta it :D

    Cheers Phil for the info!

  3. Cheap, cheap, cheap, plywood body...the works. But for that price, can't go wrong. Even the standard MIM strats are trash so you're probably in okay shape.

Expect to do a setup! :D

lol already had it to play yesterday and done a full setup, suprinsingly low action (w/o buzz) but the pups are crap. But i mean its literally just to knock about at college so ive got someting there all the time instead of having to take in £300 + Guitars :D

So is the Affinity series WORSE or BETTER then the "standard" squier strat? and what are the differences

    Cheers so far guys!

  4. And of course the one thing not mentioned yet...

We all started off as "Newbies" lol :D

I second PSW's mass welcome to all the "Newbies"

PSW is right, this place is growing and FAST. Info, once easily found is now slowly becoming lost but after a while of trawling the boards, you begin to see how this place works and what needs to be done to dig out those "jems"

I think the best advice for a "Newbies" is...

    ENJOY BUILDING :D

    ~~ TS ~~

  5. Aaah i see what you mean now :D

Possibly, the powers at be could make it that "newbies" need to read the rules before posting. I dont know how

In answer to the few pointers in the thread above...

    1) Probably the biggest "problem" as the board is so big now, finding info EASILY is beginning to be an issue... perhaps some pruning of the boards is in order Brian (or mods if you have the power)

    2) I think this will be solved with "1"

    3) This i think is pretty clear already, the forums are labelled up pretty good, and we dont very often have issues of threads being in the wrong forums

This is a great idea Wardd, keep up the good work :D

  6. id say to be honest, rules arent a HUGE issue here since the board is pretty relaxed HOWEVER...

    FORUM RULES PINNED

Those rules are pinned RIGHT in this section, so "newbies" can check if there not sure

In the same area (pinned section in Announcements and test area) are more threads relating to the rules and regs of this place :D

To be honest most people dont mind as long as the question hasnt been asked 1000 odd times, or they have posted pics at 1600x1200 and put 10 in the same post :D

  7. Anywhere near newcastle i'd come see you.

    Hey thoughtless

Well as we dont know many places, its hard to get ourselves gigs

However this is where you could do me a HUGE favour...

PM me with the details of a couple of the local hot venues in your area, e.g phone numbers n possibly names, and we will see what we can do!

    Thanks man!!

  8. Hey cheers guys B)

The 500+ is the middle range gig, as far as im aware (since i probably wont get any confirmed dates till the night before :D ) most of them are between 250 and 500, one of them is guarenteed 500 since tickets have already been sold :D

The biggest though and im so happy about is a gig where over 15 bands play over the course of a weekend, and thats expected to draw in approx 2000 B)

Either way ill hook you gusy up if we head towards your village/town/city/settlement :D

  9. Ok...

Just phoned the band and ran through the idea, this time there more then up for it and want to do it in this kind of bluesy shred thing...

Ill try and post some clips if i ever get around to recording it :D

Also, just got off the phone with the guy who manages all our gigs etc, and has said he has lined up 4 or 5 for July, all with 500+ people :D

  10. I think it'd be much easier for you to come up with something yourself, jam Voodoo Chile with your band and just add to it.. and see what comes out. That way you'll come up with something unique

We tried that once before but unfortuntly it didnt come together as well as i planned, my influences are vai etc where as the other guitarists is more Paul gilbert...

bassist who likes the chillis and a drummer who likes bodom makes for an interesting arrangement :D

Ill give it another go soon, !

    ~~ TS ~~

  11. Ok you know when the guys are doing Voodoo Chile together at the end, does anyone have a powertab for it? Ive got the orignal VC tab but i want the one for G3 since our band wants to cover it, and the prospect of tabing out the solos myself leaves me with a headache :D

    Cheers in advance guys

  12. does laenny kravitz actually play guitar, any time i see him perform he is just guitar syncing (?)

Dont have a clue man! Just been listening through an album of his ive got and enjoy the solos in em' and so there currently influencing me a little :D

  13. I actualy think that when its done if you have band and can record you should do a version, theres bout to be lots of people in bands here so there for we got lots of differant versions of the same song, as style of playing will be differant. If it ends up being a metal song, itd be cool to see a jazz bands interpritation of it. Just a thought

Definitly a good idea Marzocchi, this way we wil have many different variations, perhaps when were all done we can then send it to one person who can arrange the different variations, chuck it on cd and have the first ever PG forums cd :D

My current influences are Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz style solos so could be interesting :D

    ~~ TS ~~

  14. You'd have to make a little schedule though so that people don't work out 2 differenct parts to go in one place. Maybe eventually people could even record the song, or parts of it and it could get pieced together or soemthing by someone with the right programs and stuff.

Well id be more then happy to record parts of it here, and ill rope in the rest of the guys in the band to record so when its done we can do it like tht if people like? :D

Also good point Haggardguy, i think perhaps a mod could sticky this and then one of us create a "timetable" of who wants to do it and then when there time slot and bar numbers begin!

And yeh i chose 4 bars because thats the usual phrase length in a song, if its not cool, then perhaps 2 or 6?

Glad people liked my idea :D

    ~~ TS ~~

  15. you dont really have to play together.... just record them seperately... and score them together. It could be difficult but a lot of people do it these days... it doesn't really sound as good but it works lol

    Okay I changed it

Using that idea but changing it slightly, i think a cool little "project" would be to say, someone start a powertab (or other tab format :D) and write say 4 bars

Then we nominate a member and get them to write the next 4 if they have time, with that, slowly work our away along until we have a master piece :D

    ~~ TS ~~

  16. hehehehe...boring....

Here's a pic of the LED on my Sustainer Guitar to tempt you...got to be blue BTW...

    pete

Is this a subtle hint im ment to be in the sustainer thread? B)

Id love to join in but i dont think ive got the electronics intelligence to make any sense in there :D

I did GCSE Electronics but it went no where near in depth enough to cover the stuff you do in that thread!

It mostly covered gates (and Or etc) and capacitor/resistor values

Also learnt about different latch circuits and how to solder

    Anyway!

Cheers for the subtle hint pete :D
