Great news... Finally. It was about time this ridiculous ruling has been reversed...
-
and they're not f-shaped, but sort of c-shaped. But I think it's good work so far. Keep us updated!
-
It would be interesting to have a thread with all the images of everyone's first build... That could be very helpful for all newbies to get an idea of what is possible and what the difficulties are.
-
Well at least for me it would be a waste of money. I have absolutely so uncorrosive (is that even a word) sweat and/or gentle picking that my strings (I also use D'Addario as most people here do as it seems) last forever. Last time I tried to see how lang they could last without breaking it was eight months without a string breaking, then I was fed up with them and changed them without that any breaking occured...
-
all of them except my speedloader.i use floyd rose strings for that one.i don't think dean markley even makes speedloader strings yet?
AFAIK the strings (not the ballends) are produced by Dean Markley for Floyd Rose... At least if you google for e.g. "Dean Markley 8031 strings" or "Dean Markley Speedloader" you'll find those... Could be wrong, obviously. But it could also be that you are an all-around Dean-Markley-user without even knowing.

*waiting for saturday*
Well when this is done I guess that for once I won't have a hard time choosing the Playmate/Guitar of the month... Looking great so far.
-
Just on your Speedloader guitars or on all of them?
-
I guess Jeremy and/or Perry would/could do a great Baritone easily
Wouldn't know whether it would fit your budget though.
-
Cool. But I would not want those body cutouts at the neck join part of the body. Seems both a weakening part and not particularly comfortable, either...
-
There some great idea's, and maybe I can do some of those in a future design, I really like the idea of somehow mounting a Boss Metal Zone pedal's electrics into the body of a guitar...
Mumble, think, think...
oh my gosh
By the way, I have recently seen a guitar that had an Alesis AirFX put into it. Its name was the "Avantair" and was built by that genius luthier, Claudio Pagelli...
-
I think it looks cool and not much more complicated than the other two designs...
-
Yes, I understand this, but I do not have the money to spend on those kind of things, and if I did put a fender logo and were to sell it later on, I think I would make more money on it.
So yes, maybe it would fund another project, but so what?
Builders like me who don't build too many guitars wouldn't get busted on by Fender, am I right?
It still is, and more evidently than before, fraud, nothing short of it.
@idch: I like the "Not a Fender" thing... but I would write "NOT A" bigger than that
-
Pleaseee, Matt, do it in pink... Boiling Blood is soooo lame and predictable!
-
It is going to help because then i'll have a big enough fretboard for the strings to cover. The problem i'm having is that the fretboard isnt big enought and the e strings are off to the top and bottom.
What? That doesn't seem a good idea at all... You want to have a fretboard with overhangs at the sides of the neck? Is this what you mean?
-
Drak, I for instance love that sourburst. Let's see how you do it. Stunning work so far.
-
I meant to your own home, sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
What a total catastrophe.

I saw him play here in the Philippines last year when he did guitar clinics across Asian cities. He's one hell of a musician. He seemed like a real nice guy, too.
Here's an amateur video of him playing in some festival. It's not exactly a small file, the video's dark, and I'm not sure if it's still online, but if you're really curious...

Great vid, thanks. Very funny when the Italians make him say "E che cazzo" at the end

Man, I hope the damage is limited. If I were religious, I sure would pray for you and all the others living over there. Instead, I just hope the area will recover as quickly and perfectly as possible, and that the loss of life is contained... I never witnessed anything comparable so I cannot even imagine all the pain and destruction. Good luck to you garehanman and any others on the board living in the area.

hi how would you rate the stock ibanez v1 and v2 pickups. the guitar i have is an ibanez.
i read somewhere these pickuops are rare. Also what is a double sat bridge?
they're not rare at all.
A Double SAT is a piezo-equipped Ibanez tremolo.
-
Beautiful! I noticed one of your two pickups is a Breed, which I also wanted to buy. How do you like it?
-
Thanks guys!
I'm still very surprised by the voting pattern that the members took. I was so sure that most guitarists wouldn't vote for a bass, how wrong was I!!
No you were right. I wouldn't have thought I would vote for a bass but such a stunnigly beautiful piece of work deserved.
At least it was a six-string bass
-
I like oak myself... That's what I have in my bedroom. What about you, Metal Matt... Are you an oak man?
-
Oh, gosh, terrible, I guess I'll have to change battery model in my echo effect to compensate for that
-
I must have stared for at least half an hour at the GOTM thread... My favourites are Perry's, cudbucket's and thegarehanman's. But in the end Phil's bass made it for me. Original, extremely classy, beautiful wood, perfect shaping, custom pickups with wood tops, that special fretboard... A really great instrument. I would have never thought I could/would vote for a bass, but this one made me do it. Stunningly beautiful!

ROTFLMAO!!!
(Sorry for the completely useless post, but I have actually fallen from my chair when I read this.)
[Oh, and I had to think about that line "They got the f§$&ing metric system" in Pulp Fiction]
