Cool. The headstock sucks and the finish should be different... But... Hmmm... I REALLY like that...

Happy birthday!

I really don't know why we even help Kevan pimping his product, actually I caught myself advertising the Tremol-No in a german guitarists forum, only to find me asking myself why I did it.
I couldn't help doing it. Perhaps it is just a too great invention, I sure hope AllParts is going to release that one quickly...
-
I cannot help but envy you really much. You are one lucky guy!
-
I know, was just too lazy (unusual for me, but anyway...) sorry!
-
I wanted to ask because I did not find it right now... What was the recommended or average distance for passive pickups from the strings? And for active ones?
-
Jeez, he said he won't post anymore, so why do you even bother to reply? Just close this thread...
-
Oh, whatever. If I build a guitar I may as well go the hard way and build also the neck myself ( Scary! Did I say that?)
Yeah, I guess that's what I'll do.
-
Well you decide the nut measurements... Sorry. Next time I'll draw a fullscale plan in CAD.
-
-
Only I would have to remove the graphite nut and put the locking nut on that thing and I don't see that much space there, seems as the neck bends right after the nut and the trussrodcover is also in the way... And what radius is the fretboard? 15" like on most Carvins?
-
Another place would/culd be Ibanezrules.com considering that it is an Ibanez model. What radius is it anyway?
-
Petra is a woman's name...
-
So if I bought a Carvin neck I would just glue the wings so that they are level with the neck and route for a recessed Floyd? Recessed means one that is flush with the surface right? Like Drak does on all his guitars?

I've bought from the guy at least a half dozen times with no trouble what so ever. The bridge is a Mighty Mite and I've considered picking one up to try out..haven't gotten around to it.
You are right, thank you for the information... Mighty Mite Floyds, seems to be a MM1106, although it is not listed as being available in gold...

Go with a parker, cool look not many people have them, individualism thats good, got a humbucker, active electronics, nice neck/feel
Excuse me, what's the point of bringing an april thread about buying a guitar up?
-
Reminds me of Joey DeMaio (sorry bluespresence for seeming to compare you to that guy) who always wrote "no pedals no wimps" and then starting to use them anyway

i really like Metallicaster i could even put it in themetallica font. i was thinking of getting some tele templates, getting a neck through body neck from carvin and goin from there, i want emgs 81 and 85 all black.
EMGs, 24 frets and neck-through-body... Does it share something else with the Tele? What woods are you going to use (besides maple and ebony from the carvin neck)?
-
Yes he's not up to speed on his floyd technology. I think all he means is you can drop the ball end into the trem end instead of having to snip the ball off.
Like I said, everything I have ever gotten from him is first rate.
That was my impression too... But I like the idea to have a quite normal Floyd with the added benefit of not having to snip the ballend off. Question is whether it is a good unit, but I am now really considering to get one. What did you buy from him by the way?
-
I was wondering what the hell these are and if you think they are any good... I suppose the answer is no but I noticed the bragging about it not being "the cheapo "Pot Metal" bridge so many others sell- this is the real deal-Genuine Licensed Floyd Rose quality- solid machined STEEL baby-"
What do you think?
I for instance have even no idea what sort of floyd they copied. It does have a normal floyd style locking nut as far as I can see and it is supposed to work with normal strings so it cannot be a copy of the new Speedloader.
So I am a bit confused.

you can get sperzels in red, which i think goes nice with a black finish.
i have the red sperzels on my kxk v
Wes I Like The Sound Of That!!
!!METAL MATT!!
Made me think... It's Unfortunat that the red-colored Kahlers aren't in production anymore
-
you can build itfrom one piece regardless..the graphite rods are merely insurance against future neck problems
Really? All the neck-throughs I was looking at had laminates for stability... That is reassuring, thank you.
-
I have another question. I was thinking to build a neckthrough from the ground up. Would the use of carbon fiber neck rods eliminate the need for laminating the neck and allow me to build it from one maple piece? Or can I scrape that idea?

Happy birthday bluespresence
Anyway thanks! And I just wanted to thank you all on this occasion for all the knowledge you gave me about guitarbuilding and for the great attitude of every single one of you... You made me so confident and got me so interested in guitar building that I will be building my first soon - and I'll build it from scratch
If it wasn't for you, I would have never tried it - instead, right now or on monday my wood should be sent to me
So once again thank all of you, especially to Wes (If I am building a neck-through AND don't buy it as a part it is entirely your fault despite your new-found liking of set-necks ), Perry, Jeremy (come back soon!), Matt (all of them: MetalMatt, Guitarfrenzy, M A T T former Lex Luthier...), Setch, gun... Brian for making this possible... I surely forgot someone... argh! You are great! Keep rocking, keep building!
