built one into my guitar a few days ago, simple jfet preamp, screwed the piezo element to the side of the guitar.

Sounds good, depending on what i plug into.

Does anyone one have any tonestack circuits I could put into my rack. Sometimes it needs a bit of bass added.

  2. its finally happening ....

    it originally: http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/4527/image00065hl2.jpg

I stripped it due to the paint was cracking in some places, being a fairly old guitar.

    stripped front: http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/6222/img4177oa5.jpg

    stripped back: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5830/img4179ba1.jpg

After stripping it, I rather poorly  routed a new hole for a humbucker in the neck. (routing was going good till, the vertical lock slipped with out me noticing, and after blowing out the dust, suddenly there was a deeper trench, and me screaming ..... but it will be covered by the new pick ups)

    guitar stripped hardware on: http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/8006/p1010083wj8.jpg

I always had the intention of oiling, but after stripping I discovered the 3piece (most ibanez are like this) body are made from two different tree's, I was kind of expecting it, but hoping it wouldn't be so ....

Off in search of harlequin paint, already knowing it cost a fair amount I was hoping to retrieve some extra from a body shop, failing that I have returned to oiling.

Off to bunnings, returning with Danish oil a few days ago, I played around on some test scraps, and I bit the bullet a few days ago

  3. ...is this all wired correctly?...

    no.

if indeed those are 4PDT on-on-on switches, you must show all 4 poles to be able to keep track of which throws are engaged in the center position.

haha, ok thanks mate, so my paint skills are pretty poor, however it will work when I plug it all together :D

well I drew the diagram in the anticipation of hoping to find 3p3t switches instead ....

I can't seem to track and on-on-on ones in australia :'(

meaning i may have to buy $40 or so 4p3t switches ....

  4. 3t3pub1.gif

first switch will give neck/(neck/bridge par)/bridge

second switch will give either the mid coil by itself, mid coil blended with with either neck/bridge tapped or just the option from the first switch.

    is this all wired correctly?

    cheers fella's

  5. Hey all

I'm going to refinish my Ibanez S540 in natural

    image00065hl2.jpg

The other guitar I refinished I sanded back, however due to the fact that this is really contoured body, and its a rather thick polyester finish, I feel I'll try using my heat gun on this one.

I've been reading a fair bit about tung-oil and alot seem to write about trying to achieve a really glossy finish, I'm really trying to attempt to get a finish like on of the other S540's below.

    http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/1396/s540ve1.jpg

    http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/2192/s5403hd8.jpg

The bodies are mahogany, I'm unsure of which tung-oil variant to use?

trying to achieve really more matte finish

    cheers guys

  6. yer thanks for the idea's guys, they work, but aren't quite what I want. I primarily use neck/bridge, and prefer three-way switches to a 5way, and personally hate the murk of rolled off tone ... i'd rather have as an extra tonal option, the mid pickup in their.

Basically i wanna play it like a JS :D

(i posted these here, cause i dunno, i was nervous with tinkering with the diagrams)

  7. can't have neck and bridge mixed with a 5way :D

edit: intially I was not going to have a mid coil, and leave a hole.

then the idea came of replacing the tone pot with another switch, out of the way, giving me more tone options and still having a mid coil in.

The IOS allows switching between two inputs, then switching between two outputs (or so i've designed :D)

So i can switch between a tuner and effect loop

  9. well i found the perfect pedal :D

only prob will be that it will be a log as oposed to linear, which i hope wont make to much of a noticeable difference, but then again, i might make this type of pedal famous!!

    p10100172mj.jpg

i'm also begining construction of a: big muff, sustainer, distortion, solo boost (i'm gonna build a few different boosters), electric mistress and a fuzz with many knobs, a crybaby wah

  10. well the original Power Transformer was

    340-0-340

    around 200ma

    6.3VAC IOut

so i'll work out the cost of modifying a pc powersupply against a $200 transformer ....

and hope i can put in a few less turns when re-winding the transformer

    to produce 375volts

  11. thank you for clearing that up :D

i'm sorry if i've been rude

but generally i have an excuse for every mistake ....

in fact i generally all ways have an answer

and i've said this is my first time with tubes

thats why im building a 20w first ...

and i know 700v can kill me (after many zaps when little from points i know what 240v feels like ...)
