hey guys.

tonight one of my mates accadently dropped my 4 month old AS73. and the imput jack and surrounding area imploded into the guitar, and the top has cracked about 15% all the way around.

along where its glued.

is it worth trying to get it repaired. or should i just part it and sell the main body and neck as a "project" on the bay.

im not at all confident in my skills to be able to repair it.

i dont think so, ive been looking for another bride myself, maby bying 8 saddles and building a bridge plate might be cheaper,dont know.

building neck, but buying fretboard

I've finaly taken the plunge into guitar building, and i want to know what you guys think about this build.

i wanted to build a guitar which is nothing like i have but something i wanted

the basic specs are:

8 string

28.625 in scale

ash body (its cheap here)

maple neck

as for body shapes i wanted to do a solid 335 but im not sure how hard that would be to do,

or something like an ibanez but thicker.

and which do you guys think is the easyest to start with, a bolt on neck, set neck or neck thru?

any tips ,sudgestions or anything else would be most welcome

im just wonder if anyone has ever used gum tree wood for guitars, like ghost gum, grey gum or any eucaliptus tree in general?

would be interesting....
