I did it with my neck pocket jig, and a router. was the easiest and quickest way.

Ok I got some time to work on the guitar so this is what I have gotten done. I added material to the neck. and started the final heel shaping. Got the neck angle planed into the top 3 Degrees. and started the carve. So thats where I'm at and I think it's coming along good. going to start working on the top some more.

yep thats it. from there to the first part of your bridge where the string makes first contact.

Yeah I know how the lp's and PRS do the neck joint. I don't want to lose the fret access. so instead fo moving the neck in for more glue surface. I'm going to build up the heel on on the neck. the part the buts up to the body to get the extra glueing surface. so it will in the end look just like a PRS.

Ok I got the body cut out today. Still need to smooth it all out. Then start the neck angle plaining and then the carve but it's moving along slowly.

I like the neck but the thing is the fretboard having a finish on it that had to be removed. And if your going to go through all this trouble. would it just be easier to make one the way you want. I say if you like the shape and you think it's going to work for you and the price is good then go for it. but if you are second guessing it then don't. for me it will do for my first build.

Yeah I hate that floor drives me nuts. But I'm not replacing it.

The person I bought the neck from put a finish on the fretboard. so just doing a lite sanding with 400 grit to get down to the wood. It's already done and looking good.

Thanks Grant I might just take you up on that offer. I'm going to St. Catherine's this Saturday to pick-up a Bandsaw. don't want to use a jig..

I got it on Ebay Canada. from a guy in Calgary.sellers name is theguitarworld789 I had to sand down the finish and am doing the same to the fretboard to get the finish off of it. was cheap though. Can I use a Jigsaw to cut out my body? or is it going to ruin the body with tear-out? I don't have a bandsaw that I can use. any suggestions?

Looks sweet. I'd go with the neck pickup the way it is looks good to me. A 7 string multi scale is going to be my neck project.

OK here is the first pic of the top and back glued together and the pattern laid out on it. it's hard to see in the pic but oh well you get the idea.

Thanks for moving the thread to the right section. If you Plan on moving up here I hope you like the cold and snow for 6 months of the year. It is a great place to live.

I'm starting my first project and it's a hard one I suppose. It's going to be a PRS carve top copy with a 25 1/2 (648 mm) scale. I'm using South American Mahogany for the back and a Curly Maple for the Top. I plan on making the router jig I've seen on this forum for removing and starting the carve shaping. I also found another jig on line for cutting the neck and pickup pockets and the angle required. It's going to be a 24 fret Stop-tail. I'm using the Wilkinson GTB adjustable Stop-tail on the G and B strings. I did order a neck though seeing this is my first attempt I didn't feel up to making my own neck. I do plan on doing some custom inlays on the headstock. I'll try to post picks for everyone to see as i go along. feel free to give me any suggestions . David
