Thats another problem! where do I put the pre-amp? Better yet, can I get away without it? (Kinda doubt it) As far as eq, I used a fishman on an acoustic I built that I liked, but ...same problem. Where does it go? Seems like alot of extra gear for an electric guitar.i think it would still work because you can put a piezo...i assume ur talking about the little piezo buzzer element thing for like 2$...on just about anything and it will still pick up sound through it so i dont see why a bone saddle wouldnt work as long as is attached so it can pick up the vibration of the strings. please tell me if you find a good eq/buffer because thats what i have trouble with -
I have an Idea for a jazz guitar, that is basically a solid body guitar, with one humbucker in the neck, and a bridge with a bone-saddle, on an ebony bridge. Like an acoustic,(just the bridge) But Solid body electric jazz. The other addition would be a piezo pickup under the saddle. Am I wasting my time? Of course I would like to be able to blend the magnetic pickup, with the piezo, and other variations from there. I have seen those electric piezo systems, but the Idea is to use a bone saddle. Any input would be appreciated.

I had a guitar come in for routine maintanance, and while it was here the client said the bridge pickup occasionally cut out on him. I only heard it do it once, and I thought it could be a short somewhwere. Of course, I couldnt find anything like that, but what I did see, was that the INSULATED hot lead from the pickup was sitting against the metal part of the three way switch. I moved it out of the way, and everything seems to work fine. I just didnt think something like that was possible, and Im worried that the problem may not actually be solved, but just isnt showing up now. Anyone ever had this happen?

[Heres a couple....
That's my kind of guitar! Blonde quilt and gold hardware FTW!
The fingerboard on the first guitar you posted is really cool, is it macassar ebony??
I think it is gabon, or whatever other ebony is usually solid black. I think this piece is with the hartwood however. I have heard it is quite hard to find. I got lucky, and got it as a gift from a luthier friend of mine. I am not 100% sure however.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I really apreciate the encouragement. I have seen some really nice work on this forum already, in the short time I have been on here! I was kind of nervous to put up pictures of my work.I will post more, I just need to go through some of my pictures, and see what Ive got.

Sorry about the glare in the first pic....

I love layered bodies. I like to think that it gives me chance to blend the best qualities of each of the different types of wood... Tonally, I guess its up to debate, but visually the effect can be stunning.

That is a beautiful bass! I love the shape. It all flows beautifully. the carving on the top makes it that much nicer.

Welcome!
To post pics:
Get a free account at http://photobucket.com (or something similar...I like Photobucket best)
Follow instructions at Photobucket to upload your pics
Each pic, after it's uploaded to Photobucket, will have a box below it that starts with IMG (surrounded by square brackets)
Copy the text in that box
Start a post here and paste the text into it
Voila!
Edit: Here's what your pic will look like once it's at Photobucket... The last text box at the bottom is what you'll want to copy from there and paste here (by left-clicking the box which will highlight it, then right-clicking and selecting Copy).
Thanks Rick! I am certainly not a computer genious, so I had a friend come over and help me, using your suggestion. Ive got an account set up over at photo bucket, and hope to participate more in the future. But for now, I got those pictures up I wanted to .

I actually built a stand out of 2 by 4s and put a swivel hanging down, that attaches to a bolt i put through the tuner hole. This way, I am able to spin the guitar freely, without touching it. I just turn the swivel. I had the swivel alredy, and the lumber was also given to me. I use this rig all the time now. I added other attachments in other places for things like cover plates, and necks. It definately makes things easier

I am new to this forum thing, so I guess I will use this to help me figure out how to do this. Here are some pictures of a guitar I finished in January 09. Tell me what you think.
Sorry, thought I had it figured out, apparently I jumped the gun. I think I need to do some more research. I will try to have them up soon though.

Here you go, Dont laugh. I learned alot about ergonomics, and unnecesary design flaws with this one!
