  1. I just installed that wiring in my buddies lp with a SD jazz in the neck and a custom 5 in the bridge. It does give you a lot of options, but I didn't really like them all. really the only one I liked was the phase reversal. the rest sounded really thin, and I had to mess with the amp to make them sound ok, and it might have been the pups weren't hot enough. but versatility isn't only having options but good sound options. I'd much rather have a varitone switch. just my thoughts.

  2. once I saw it was one of your build I knew i was going to like it. that thing it sweet! I love how deep the sunburst is, Its not you run of the mill sunburst and it adds to the effect. I think its the most successful combination of two great body styles i've seen.

you do so many builds in such a short time with compromising quality, great work.

  3. yeah its an acoustic/electric and I tend not to like the electric models. I believe the 420-C is the cutaway model. its going to come down to how much he wants for it and how much you like it in person. But...

I have the fg-730s, I couldn't be more happy with it. I bought it from GC and got my friend there to set it up. the tone is extremely warm and for the price range I don't think anything else compares. I got mine during their specials for $250, I was planning on buying a master-built epiphone hummingbird but this one sounded way better. I like yamaha now, if mine were to break I'd buy another in an instant. If you pass on the 420 definitely check out the 730s you will be surprised.

  4. QUOTE (verhoevenc @ May 10 2010, 11:46 PM)

I watched MOST of the videos... and I gotta say... How did (from the majority I saw at least) NO ONE play any Hendrix on that strat-esque guitar?!?!

    Chris

It's a famous double-bluff. Nobody pick up a Les Paul and rattles off Tiger Rag.

at least not in public. I wanted to play zeppelin so badly in GC when I bought my first LP, until i saw like 4 others playing stairway to heaven and I realized how lame it was.

I'm pretty impressed with the tone, The last thing I expected was someone to play jazz on it, and it had some great tone. I was expecting someone to come out just thrashing with insane overdrive in those vids. I didn't expect it to have that rich of a tone, most headless guitars i've played sounded so thin. Your obviously doing something right, looking forward to seeing where they go from here.

  5. I think you'll need those two thin walnut stripes in there for contrast, or else the different maple figures will just look sloppy next to each other. Flame down the middle, quilt on the sides, walnut in between.

    +1

Although you didn't put a build thread, definitely post the pics of the finished products. I really like your tele builds and I especially want to see that $200 budget one.

  6. If you going to add something that doesn't cover the entire surface of the guitar you have to very carful to make sure you sand back the clear so it ends up flat in the end. I suggest you watch this video,

its not on guitars the process has worked for me before. but I was doing a smaller design that didn't cover the entire thing and it made it easy to level without putting a ton of clear.
