I'm having a freaking blast. my bank account less so...
yeah, I don't think I'm rushing anything. I made really good templates, which has made all of these bits much quicker. I'll be forced to slow down when I'm doing the carving, the fret markers, etc, etc.

i also suspect under the bridge plate may not be the best location once the bridge is firmly bolted down, how about something that sits between the bridgeplate and the saddles. Some kind of peizo strip with a metal plate on top to spread the pressue from the saddles over the strip
Then it starts to get complicated (for my skills) and probably a little ugly looking. I think I just need to accept that I either pony up for the real deal (ghost) or live without. I'm leaning toward the latter, although I may still try out the under-the-bridge plan (I'll test it by playing some RHCP, arf!) as I can always just take it out if it doesn't work that well - i won't do any cosmetic damage as the rout will be hidden by the bridge plate.

The WOD is of concrete
The WOD is bigger than nature
The WOD is tougher than nature
The WOD fears none.
The WOD forgives none.
Sorry, had to do it.
I thought that was Chuck Norris.

I'm currently epoxying just such a piezo pickup to the back of a TOM to try out on my epi lp - I guess if that works then idea #3 would also work, with the advantage of being less ugly.
If anyone's interested, the results were not great - very quiet output (through a preamp).

So in the new Grizzly catalog, they are showing off their new granite slabs and trying to pitch them for lutherie.
Not sure how good the sustain would be....

so to clarify, if I'm planning on dyeing my entire body, neck and headstock (basically everything except the fretboard) black, then sanding back the headstock and top to dye blue, roughly how much finished solution should i be making up of the black and the blue?
thanks
