  1. To blame, condemn, and crucify w/o a fair trial is unjust and shows an unreasonable attitude to learning the trade of building good guitars. No good thing will come of this kind of attitude I tell you the truth.

I would like to see a pic of this repaired laminated top guitar and understand what your application procedure was exactly before condemning Titebond to Eternal Hellfire.

I would also like to read the original thread for questionable usage of terminology, such as possibly substituting the word laminate for veneer or something along those lines, to be sure we are all talking about apples and not you saying apples and actually meaning paranormal nebulizers.

There is no good or bad, right or wrong, there is only knowledge ...and Kabuki.

Well, Drak....I have never read such a load of sanctimonious piffle in all of my 60 years on this planet! I don't think I have heard the likes on any of the other planets I have lived on either. Some of you people on this site are so far up your own your own fundaments, it's a wonder you don't drown in your own efluent! Please don't use such a high handed tone with me! :D I am so sorry that I don't use the correct terminology for your highness. What the f*ck is wrong with the use of 'veneer' when describing veneer?

Just for the record....I have been a teacher of Design and Technology for 40 years now and have taught thousands of youngsters to create and realise high quality artefacts in wood, metal and plastic.

All I was doing was voicing an opinion, based on an experience, with a new type of glue ( sorry, should I say 'adhesive' here? ...Or perhaps 'facilitator of the state of two materials becoming permanently conjoined?) I have obviously learnt from the experience and realise that the veneer / laminate that I used, mouingue, was extremely open grained and porus enough to allow seepage. As for the advice about wiping the glue off with a wet rag...well there's a new idea! I am 60 years old and have learnt some new! (NOT). I would love someone to tell me how to wipe the excess glue off when it the veneer/laminate is clamped solidly to the guitar body! But no doubt you 'experts' will have a condescending answer for that!

I also humbly apologise for blaspheming aginst the Holly Titebond, but am I, a heathen and an unbeliever, not worthy to utter it's name?

Just to finish here are some photos of the finished guitar. I suppose you will find fault with this too!

Come on! Youv'e got to laugh at yourself! ( or cry)

    Wizardfire

To me you sound like a grumpy old man who's guitar didn't get finished fast enough for him. We're all crying for you.(trust me :D)

  2. Played a jem with these fitted, Have to say I was surprised at how good they were. Didnt feel weird & could do anythin a normal neck could with no problems. Only took a few minits to totally ignore them :D

But as for bending your own ? hmmmm. I could route the board to take them no problem, But the frets are a totally different thing. You would need to make a die & maby heat the frets to make them plyable enough to bend about like spagetti. You would spend more time & money than would be viable, Id just buy a neck ready to go (untill i figured it all out) B)

Ya i figured ide have to heat them to do anything i would totally buy a neck if they werent so much $ :D

  3. First you would need a cnc router to cut the fret slots then you would need the special frets.

Good luck with that... Also I never figured out how you can bend a string and not change the note when it hits a dip or bump on those frets. Honesty the fenton tuning system seems like a better solution

i understand that but first i need to get the basic shape and bend of the frets

  4. You can get the SPST mini-toggles and mini-sliders at Radio Shack.

in my project (hum, single, single) ive used 2 minitoggles, and one les paul style 3 way, one on each single as an on/off and the humbucker has a 3 way, up=off, middle=hum, down=coiltap

  5. I have a weird question

in my current project im using a strat style tremolo system with a floyd rose style nut

beside the fact that i am gonna have loosen the nut every time i need to tune are there any other problems

if so, is there a normal strat style nut that might fit in my floyde rose nut pocket?

    Thanks in advance

  6. There's no problem with having one more fret... OR... you could just cut the board off shorter and get rid of said fret...

    Chris

It is very possible it is really a 24 fret plus a zero fret = 25 frets total. I've seen a number of necks and fretboards advertised on Ebay like that.

what do you mean by "Zero Fret"

  7. hey guys,

I've been trying to find a fretboard for my current project, and I've found a Very nice one on ebay. but its a 25 fret and i have no experience with a 25 fret

does anyone know of any differences or problems with a 25 fret? I really want to use this fretboard but im not sure if i should or not

    Thanks in advance
