  3. i intend to load it with 0.08 gauge string.....so,the tension should be less...
  4. @ Pauliemc it may not look like much is taken off but it makes a huge difference when playing. in which way you mean???
  5. Hallo again my dear friends! I intend to make a stratocaster but i would like to change the shape of the classical "squared" neck pocket to a new modern with curves...Many of you you do this...My question is how can i do it from the standard plans?? in the diagram you see the two shapes:the old and the new..the old screws are in ACDE and the modernn in ABDC.....But i think if i make the distance AC to AB and the DE to DC,will it be dangerous ??? If my thoughts are wrong ,can you suggest a new plan ???what shoud i change??? thank you in advance!!
  6. question: olive over padauk for stratocaster, would it sound too bright ???
  7. i think you are right guys.....Here in Greece economic crisis is so huge that no one can afford such an expensive piece of wood...Westhemann i know what i am looking for, i told you but i cannot find here buck eye ..I have in mind another alternative. We have here plenty of olive woods.....I think it is easier to find than anything else....so olive wood burl is....something alternative.......
  8. i found a fantastic strat which i wanted to share with you...By the way...where can i find buck eye burl??? http://eliezerlaraguitars.com/gallery/instruments/guitars/stratcustom/stratbuckeye00/index.php
  9. Scott thank you very much.....You know, i have turned woods for ouds which were 2-3 mm thick pretty easy...but for those thickness it is very tough...next layer revealed is very good idea!!!anyway....i will look the "How To Fold a 1/4" Maple Top" !! thanks again my friends!
  10. sorry but i cannot understand it...i glue it on flat top...if the thickness is for example 2 cm equal and i start carving there, then there will be for example 1 cm in this area and then it will be obvious.....or i make a mistake???please correct me if i am wrong....
  11. thank you guys,i will look all these and i will tell you later...but i have a major question....about this ihave drawn in photo..how i turn the top???i mean if i have an equal thickness of top then i must press in to match the body which is not flat @ this point... By heat maybe??i think this is the most difficult part....
  12. Hallo there!! i am planning to make a stratocaster again....but this time i dont want to follow the cliche... I want to use padauk for body but i dont want to be flat...so i think i need another top...do you have any photos or ideas for such a stratocaster body ???and about neck also...i love full scalloped...but in maple?any other white wood like wood???? My other idea is to carve something small....i would appreciate your thougts....

  17. I'm guessing he is using water slide decal paper. I have some A4 sheets somewhere ... some are clear, some are white. You can print a logo (or any image) on it using a printer or photocopier; cut out your logo; immerse it in water; and the top very thin plastic sheet slides on to your headstock ... just like those temporary tattoos you could get as a kid. In my experience you need to shoot A LOT of clear over them to get the edges to disappear. One trick is to cut as close to the edge of your logo as possible so it's less obvious. i apologize again fro my bad english..that's what i mean....my problem is that when i put it in water, the colour went off.so i must seal it with a liquid....this liquid made a little mess in my logo..i mean that besides the black color,a red colour appeared....and by putting it the headstock, and shoot with sealer,it was obvious that it is a sticker...i am very dissaponted cose i cannot find a descent decal to my my work correct...really disapointed...i called back the shop i bought them and asked my money back!!!in the photos the result i see is very professional, ....i will look for vinyl decals as the guys here suggested me!! thanks again !!!
  18. i apologize for not explaining well.it was water decal...although the film is very thin,it is still visible through polyurethane!!
  19. haha.thank you..... no i did put it over a well sealed surface...I just wanted to suggest me where do you buy your sticks and put your logo on...i would be very gratefull...
  20. i used my printer, printed it, sealed it with a spray, let it dry, then soaked it in water, and immediately put it on head stock.... does it matter that it is high gloss???? how do factories do it???with decals or with other way???i try to find out!
  21. hallo! i faced a problem today....When i put my decal on the headstock, then sprayed with HIGH GlOSS polyourethane,it was obvious that the stick was not part of the surface, different colours i could say....What can i make to solve the problem???should i shoot with a mat polyourethane or add wax to make the whole thing dull,to hide the problem??? thank you.!!
