Thanks RAD. I'm very pleased with how these are turning out. Putting strings on it really justified some of the design choices I made. Super fast neck and I love the Gotoh wraparound bridge. This one is for me, and I'm super excited to play it on stage. Hopefully it'll be ready for tour this summer.

These guys are ready for electronics. I just ordered four different Duncan humbuckers, so I can try out a couple of combinations.

Got strings on the first one, this thing sounds great unplugged. I'm officially a huge fan of mahogany and cherry together. This has sustain for days.

Got the electronics sorted out. Here's where they go. I'll elaborate more when it's done. This will have a Gibson P90 from the 50's in it, and some other cool stuff.

Been waiting on the customer to make some decisions on my commissioned build, so I've had time to work on these. Carving wood, my favorite part! These necks are thin and super fast.

I've been testing the electronics for this in a dummy guitar. I'm waiting on a few parts before I finalize the control design.

The customer wanted a 50's style profile on this one. It's good and fat, but still fast. I used 50's Gibson measurements, but I carve each neck individually to feel. I'll string the whole thing up before finishing and then he can play it and I can tweak the profile as needed. The heel on this design gave me a bit of pause, but I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.

I had time to fret all three builds this week. These will probably go back to the bottom shelf while I work more on the commission.

Got all three builds fretted this week. My first necks with fret ends extending over the binding. Takes a while, but I'm happy with the results.

OK, not many pictures for a while. Here's where it stands now. Logo inlay on the headstock will hopefully get done this week, but for now here's the fretboard and all the binding.

Not a lot new, I've been on tour and busy with a commissioned build. Both headstocks are inlaid and fretboards glued. Radius and fret next, but I'm not sure when I'll get to it, the commission takes priority.

Hey guys, sorry no pics for a while. The customer changed his mind about the headstock, so now it's going to look like the duo I'm building in my other thread. The fretboard inlays will be different, but the binding and logo will be mostly the same. That delayed things, and since then, I've been on tour and had some painting work to do. I'll slot the fretboard tomorrow and then start on the inlays.

I also now have the electronics for this, I'm gonna do a test wiring in a cheapo LP copy.

Thanks, Charlie. The name is taken from a pirate name generator. It was something like Nathaniel Whalehazzard. I thought it sounded ridiculous, and I've always been strangely fascinated (for a midwesterner) in maritime history, especially the whaling trade. I don't know, it seemed like a logical move. And then I drew the logo and I knew it was the way to go.

I think it really starts to look good when it gets nice and red. The neck on the guitar I play every day is getting mighty handsome.

This is a commission for a friend. One piece swamp ash body, quartersawn cherry neck, rosewood fretboard. It'll have an onboard fuzz circuit with some special features. Stay tuned for more.

Here's the body shaped and neck blank prepped. This piece of ash is beautiful and amazingly light. The neck is from a pretty interesting board, it's got yellow, green and pink streaks all through it. I straightened and smoothed it with the help of my brand new Grizzly jointer, which so far is amazing. This is going to make my life way easier.

Good call. This will be way nicer without aluminum. Love the body.

I like the shape...it's psychedelic. I can't say enough good things about cherry for a neck. It's very similar to maple, but more fun to work with and it looks way cooler. Good work so far.
