Hey guys I just have a quick question. I just started this build and I am using an Ebony fingerboard and I am going to do some inlay work with some maple. I have seen this done before but I just wanted to get some opinions on what I should do about keeping the maple from getting dirty or oxidizing? This guitars finish will be tru-oil. I have worked with maple boards before and sprayed lacquer on them or oil finish. My initial idea was to just apply some thin coats of tru-oil just to the maple parts and leave the ebony but I didn't know if that would look good. Should I tru-oil the whole fingerboard?

Does anyone have some dimensions of a Gibson firebird body? The width at widest point and length at longest point. Mainly from the tip of the lower "horn" to the butt of the body. In this pic if I just had this measurement where the green arrows are then I can figure out the rest of the guitar. Thanks.

I am pretty much in agreement about the tuner layout, I thought it was the right thing to do until it was too late, I don't think it is horrible but could be better. It was my first try at this design. If I do it again I would change the tuner layout and make the top horn a bit larger and put the strap button on the horn instead of behind the back of the neck. I am really happy with overall though.

It is a 9 string guitar with the 3 high strings having double strings like a 12 string to get that chorus-y sound.

Neck wood maple

Fretboard is ziricote

Faux body binding

Flame maple neck binding

MOP diamond fretboard inlay

Headstock logo is gold leaf w/ nitro clear over it

Gotoh tuning machine

Gotoh bridge

Recessed knobs,switch and straplocks

PAF style humbuckers

Bone nut

All hardware on the back is black to hide it better

Nitro black on the body/neck, Nitro clear over whole guitar
