  1. OK thanks. I have a Switchcraft but its too long so will get ordering a new one today.
  2. Nothing to report but I have a question to ask the forum. Do you need a special 3 way toggle switch when using EMG's. I'm using EMG 81 bridge 85 neck 1 vol 1 tone and a 3 way toggle. Can I use a standard Gibson type toggle switch? Thanks
  3. I know what you mean about the last 4 Linny. You wont really get the benifit. My original thoughts were to do it from the 12th to the 24th but after some thought today I think I'm trying to be too fancy with this build. I have to remember it's a strat with mods and I should not go overboard with it. Note too myself. I'm doing well on this build. I've had no major spanners in the works. Keep it to your building abilities and it's going to turn out great.
  4. That was the plan Muzz but I've changed from Stew Mac fretwire to Jascar wire and its a bit taller so I think I'm going to give the scallops a mis on this one as they are a bit tricky to do well and the extra fret hieght keeps fingers off the board. BUT knowing me I dont stick to the plan.
  5. I've trimmed the fretboard flush. I need to put the Abalone dots in before I sand the radius but I'm thinking again :o To scallop or not to scallop as I dont want to scallop out the frest laid dots.
  6. The Clampasaurus Rex. If this was facebook I'll be liking that
  7. Here we go no more messing about. Centerlines done. Tape to catch any glue splat. A bit of Tightbond Original and clamp away.
  8. OK no more debate. The coco is out and the wenge will be getting clagged on.
  9. HuntinDoug..Thats what I was thinking in the original design. Continuity and also because Coco is very hard to get a hold off in the UK I decided to go over the top with it. Now I'm starting to like the Coco again. So I'm putting it to a little vote. Wenge or Coco???
  10. Aye the weather is great at the moment just in time for night shift weekend!!!!!!!! The Cocobolo is a great fretboard but you are right its just a tad bit much of the same thing. Wez surgessted black ebony but I had the Wenge in stock and also the neck is a laminate of Padauk and Wenge so I think it all ties in. Enjoy your jollies in Greece. I'm away to Corfu in August
  11. I've decided to change the Cocobolo fretboard to Wenge just to add a bit of contrast. The Coco will either be used on another built or ebay.
  12. No progress to report except the post man delivered two gold EMG's and a Schaller combination bridge.
  13. I'm cracking on with this neck. Profiled out and just needs the headstock sanded to final shape. I've tried the neck in the template and its slack by 0.1mm. It must be the cheap router bits I use as the neck template and neck pocket template are a push fit.
  14. Today I've cut and planed the fretboard. Its Cocobolo to match the body top. Its nice but I was hoping it would be a bit lighter. I've also glues two ears onto the headstock as I needed another 5mm a side.
  15. Took the clamps off and skimmed the top flush Then I done the truss rod channel I'm happy with this build so far. Had nothing major yet.
  16. Yes the Wenge and Padauk go well together
  17. Very slow progress but I've done a little bit today. Milled the angle at 12.5 degrees. I was aiming for 13 but close enough. Then clagged it together ready for tomorrow where I'll mill the top flush.
  18. I have spent many hours touring the local charity shops to find that 60's Gibson or Fender thats been part of a house clearance when sombody dies. Never found a sausage
  19. Hi Gron. I thought I recognised the walnut body blank.
  20. Thanks for that Dylanwad. I do like the accent line its dyed black sycamore.
  21. Today I put a small flat on the side because I'm using a electro socket output so need a flat to sit into. I have also done the roundover front and back. I dont think I can do much more on the body until I get the neck made so I know the neckpocket depth.
  22. Today I had a "I'm just going in the garage for an hour" kind of day. Routed out the control cavity. I think it turned out good. Next I'll change template and route out the control cavity cover plate recess. Weight reduced to 3447g
  23. I tried Royal Mail today and they want £61 to ship. They say its due to the length, 1m. Its just not worth the postage.
  24. Got the neck blank planned up today. Its looking good I think.
