It's about 3.5 kgs according to my analogue scales
-
I will put on the scales and see what happens. My wife says the scales are always wrong as she never weighs that much

I thought Aluminium is lightweight! The wooden centre block must be too massive?
I've definitely under-engineered the wooden element. I will be braver for mk2

I am very slowly restoring a Pfishner (sp?) aluminum upright bass. Unlike the Alcoa ones this one has a real wood neck, bracing, etc. Your approach looks similler, perhaps more conservative, so it should work.
Would love to see some pictures of that

Hi all,
It's been a very long time since I've done anything post-worthy (and this is a stretch)
Originally, I built a furnace with the aspiration of casting aluminium guitars however after a small accident and a skin graft, I've been banned from playing with anything too dangerous.
So here is the concept, Aluminium sides/top with a wooden centre block. Possible with some etchings too.Apologises for the bad pictures and my terrible lawn
More to follow in the coming weeks

I don't have any experience with stringing classical guitars, but you should check out this Link. Maybe you did something wrong, it's always good to be informed.
thanks Daniel, it's not completely different to what I did. I probably need more practice and a heck more patience

I've just changed my strings on my classical and I really regret doing it.
Firstly I kept b*llsing it up
Secondly, now they are on they are talking "forever" to stretch in
Thirdly, they sould really tinny
why did I do it
I just wanted to share my pain...sorry

I've been looking for a new nylon strung acoustic. I always assumed that a classical guitar was the same as a Flamenco/Spanish but on some of the websites I've been looking on, they sell both Flamenco and Classicals.
Does anyone know that the main differences between types of guitars?
many thanks..
Steve
The Flaminco is a little smaller than a classical. Both are fingerstyle instruments, one is just a little more punchy(smaller body tends to give this responce).
Peace,Rich
Thanks Rich, I've just found this link also
http://www.musicfolk.com/docs/Features/Fea...calFlamenco.htm
I think the Flamenco is more what I am after
