I dont know how to make it look new but i can tell you how to make it look vintage;

drop it in some ferric chloride (well atleast thats what i was told) then take it out and wipe it down

I just bought a cheap-o router (100 AUS) and it come with 10 bits and a few other things..

I will not use the bits it came with as i have already order the bit i need 40$ (more than 1/3 of the cost of my router) well atleast i wont use them on my guitar nor anyone elses

I will 2nd the opinion of; yeah buy the cheap router but use good bits, and the router will last...

Ive had a bit of exp with cheaper parts and i had to replace them becuase they are just crap, but that wasnt a fully inotatable tailpiece it was just machine heads.....

I hav no doubt that the tailpiece will function properly but its a matter of; is it going to last, whereas if you buy a good one you will always know that your guitar has good parts on it and will function properlly non-stop.

A guitar i ordered (my first guitar, pos lol) epiphone les paul 100 had a bridge with to small of saddles and they rattled everytime i would play the string.

You dont want a tailpiece/bridge that ends up like that do you - cuz i had to replace it

id say just stick it out and go for the better part.

Danm.........just had a go at some guitars in there and......all i can say is.........that thing Rocks

Hmmmm......that laminate idea sounds good but id maybe consider

filling in the neck join (so the added piece has alot more glueing faces than the laminates) and adding a bit to the top (where youre laminates would be you simply re-route the neck pocket to your set neck specs

Heh heh...well, the guitar looked exactly like a 350, the only major difference was the heel, since this one was a bolt on ....

I'll take a pic of how they did it, it might give you an idea

Finnally a pic lol.....thank you, jesus the strings would sit high.....ill vote on recessing the pickups (again ) itd look awesome if you do a really tight joint around the pickups, so as though it almost looks as if there is no recess

Hmmm... first of all, great shape, and amazing maple! That said, definitely stain the maple.

I like the color you want to stain it, but personally, I think it'd look better if it were a bit more orange than that. Just my $.02.

Im having a bit of trouble..........and need some help

i want to make a gibson blueshawk or something similar...

specs:

Top - Spalted Maple (non Carved)

Body - Mahogany 2 piece

Neck - 3 piece laminate set neck

Fretboard - Ebony - no inlays

but i cant find any good front on shots of the guitar that would help me make a cad drawing.... i was wondering if anyone had any??? or know where to find some??

and does anyone know how the varitone switch is wired? + where i could find some good mini humbuckers? (not seymour duncan or dimarzio or similar)

anything you guys could suggest would be great....

all i am doing to do mine is

Clean up the neck pocket so it is not at a 3 degree angle make it bassically so square that i can just put a piece of mahogany in there and re-route the shape of my body with it in there and put my new top on (flame maple) redo the binding.

then all i do is add a slab to the bottom of the neck heel -recarve it then do the tenon joint, and then do the female part of the joint in the body and wallah im done

Yeah.....ill give it a go, i might not stain - ill try a cherry sunburst on it and then if it looks like **** ill try the stain......and if that looks crap ill put it on my next project
