ok.............. is it true that pickups with 16k or more ohms resistance usually sound lifeless and boring, with very little treble? my bridge pickup has 21.6 ohms, and the neck has 18.
-
would it be ok to fret the fingerboard before I attach it to the neck?
-
Im really just looking for a cool transparent finish, probably red or blue, and Ill probably try a 3d one. the prs guitar was just an example. I was short on time, so I didnt find a better one.

any other cool transparent finish ideas welcome
-

1 more question
do really high output passive pickups tend to sound thinner than normal output ones?
-
yeah i agree
-
would plutting a 1/2 inch maple top on a 1 1/2 to 1 3//4 inch mahogany back make it sound really bright?
-
that seemed to be what someone ment
-
thanks for the advice
any other opinions/advisories/warnings?
Thanks
-
so you have to make a thick neck to get a fat sound?
I hope not
-
What makes a lp sound so fat, when many other mahogany guitars dont? is it possible to get that sound in a 2 cutaway model?
thanks
-
thanks, ill think about trying to fret it myself, but if it doesnt work, do you know of anyplace that sells 25 or 24.75 scale fretted fretboards?
-
I am actually using mightymite motherbuckers in both the neck and bridge, both very high output pickups (I just hope the neck can still get clean), so it would probably be best to use 500k pots for volume (cuz thats what most people use with humbuckers) and either 250k or 500k pots for tone. which would you suggest
thanks
-
I didnt know they made a 24 fret model.
-
I am building a les paul style guitar, and I know you have to use 500k pots for the volume controls, but do you have to use 250k pots for the tone, or 500s? also, where is a good place to buy cheaper long shaft pots? stewmacs seem expensive.
thanks

just buy covers from mighty mite. they should fit. I just bought a set too. hope they sound good

he is my favorite guitar player

Re: fretboard width, something that applies to most acoustic guitars should work quite well for all instruments: width at 12th fret is the same as the string spacing. You've got the nut spacing, connect the dots, follow the line through, and voila, done.
that could be good to know, but you dont really need it.
