  1. Each of the strings sits on a 'saddle'. You can move the saddle backwards and forwards, usually with a screwdriver to adjust the intonation. Have a read of the tutorials here on how to set up a guitar, especially the one here on adjusting the intonation. It's fairly easy to do (just remember to put on new strings!), and you can't really go wrong.

    so like if i cant get it to tune right i just adjust the saddles?

  2. i put strap locks on my jazz bass and i'm guessing that the screws were to small for the arginal holes in the bass but now after about a year the screws have pretty much dug out the holes and striped them out. just to make it short. how can i fix it? just fill it with putty or somthing so i can put the orginal strap holders back on? thanks for the help.
