Wow, how about this, If we think of the switch as (4) switches instead of 2 on/on/on, we can have (2) switches that connect to post 1 in posistions 1 and 2, and the other post in pos 3 (I will call them Ta), and (2) that connect post 1 in pos1, and the other post in 2 and 3 (I will call them Tb). The 2 sides of the push pull will be called Ma and Mb. See if this is clear to you, this would give you the following, with a single dimarzio 4dpt 3 posistion toggle, and a push pull pot.
Mode (push pull) in pos 1
1. pickup 1 series humbucking
2. 1 coil from each pickup, series humbucking
3. pickup 2 series humbucking
Mode in pos 2
1. pickup 1 single coil
2. 1 coil from each pickup, parralell humbucking
3. pickup 2 single coil

The entire switch
$35 shipped for the switch with hardware and the hardtail and ferrules sound fair ?

If you're saying your selling the toggle switch I'll buy it.
do you want the switch, the hardware for the switch, or both ?
-
can i get some info on the distressed stuff?
Yeah, whatcha wanna know ?
The covers and knobs may be sold, just waiting on the guy. In addition, I also have the strap buttons, switch knob and nut, and the jack plate. Here is a stock pick, but mine are like 3 months old and dont see a ton of use so they look just the same.
-
hey jeff I'm savin my money for the hardtail but it may take a while though, can you hold on to it for me????
I will try to, but I really NEEDS SOME NEW GEAR. OK I really dont NEED it, but you know. I jut threw it in with that stuff. I am trying to get the SD pickups and some other stuff.
Guys, I am gonna give Punk Rocker Luke 2 days to get the money !!!!!!
Nah, how long you need ?
Also, The JB is on hold.
Covers and knobs on hold
I am also interested in a tube drive pedal.

All of these aprts are from a washburn wi-64d
I have a set of distressed pickup covers for sale or trade. I will also have the knobs in distressed for sale (4). I would love to have a SD sh-5 custom, also a SD 59n in 4 conductor. not saying its an even trade, just what I am looking for. In addition, If I can score both pickups, I will have a JB to get rid of also.
Also, I have a deluxe washburn gig bag, and a digitech gb-s multi effect gig bag. I also have a guitarfetish stringthrough black hardtail bridge, with black ferrules.
I think thats about it, Unless you want the stock washburn buckers out of my wi64. The bridge reads 9.13 and the neck is still in the guitar.
If no one is interested in trades, these will all be for sale.
dekuxe gig bag $20 plus shipping.
digitech bag $20 plus shipping
JB $40 plus shipping
hardtail / ferrules $15 plus shipping
distressed covers $15 plus shipping for both.
Distressed knobs, $10 plus shipping
WB630 pickups Hows $20 plus shipping for the pair sound ?
I will also sell the 18:1 grovers off the guitar, thay are of course distressed. They run about $60 new, and I am not in too much of a hurry to get rid of them, so $45 plus shipping.
I will make a deal if you want multiple parts, and will also be willing to sell the bridge and tailpiece (distressed) if the offer is right.
And I will also need the bridge and tailpiece if I sell these, so if you have them I would be interested in trades. , and tuners, knobs. Black please !

Alright, I figured out how to wire it up. i guess i just used common knowledge, i made this schematic aswell.
Yngwie Malmsteen Guitar Wire Schematic
So a 5 way selector with only 2 different sounds ?
-
Alright, giving up on selecting which coils I want, is there any way to do this ?
Mode switch position 1: Les / PRS sounds
o toggle position #1 - pickup #1 series humbucking.
o toggle position #2 - pickup #1 single coil, pickup #2 single coil, series humbucking
o toggle position #3 - pickup #2 series humbucking.
Mode switch position 2: Strat sounds
o toggle position #1 - pickup #1 single coil
o toggle position #2 - pickup #1 single coil, pickup #2 single coil, parallel humbucking
o toggle position #3 - pickup #2 single coil

One cool thing about that, you could always just use one cab if you needed. Actually, I would build one first and then have a go at the second, If you find the first is not loud enough. Just make it with 2 inputs. This looked to be a decent article on cab building, altthough I did not read it all the way through.
http://colomar.com/Shavano/stereocab.html
Just search google, I found tons of sites.

Well, ok... I drew up this schematic for the switching I outlined.
(picture removed to save space)
When I drew it up on paper, I assumed that the coil 1's were the inside coils, making the coil 2's on the outside.
The only way you can get two outside coils from separate humbuckers to connect up in series and be humbucking is if those coils are opposite polarity.
I mention this only because I mount dual humbuckers so that the inside coils are the same polarity to prevent the (e.g.) N pole of one from interferring with the S pole of another. If your humbuckers are mounted this way, then the outside coils of each can't become humbucking.
Brilliant !!
Give me a little while to wrap my mind around that.
So posistion 4 on a strat, those are reverse polarity, not phase ?
So would the closest sounfd from 2 humbuckers be 1 inside and 1 outside in parrallel ?
Making our single coil switching
pickup 1 inside
pickup 1 inside partellel with pickup 2 outside
pickup 2 outside ?
-
Ok? This is what I think is possible:
Mode switch position 1:
o toggle position #1 - pickup #1 series humbucking.
o toggle position #2 - pickup #1 inside coil, pickup #2 outside coil, series humbucking
o toggle position #3 - pickup #2 series humbucking.
Mode switch position 2:
o toggle position #1 - pickup #1 inside coil
o toggle position #2 - pickup #1 inside coil, pickup #2 inside coil, parallel in phase, non-humbucking
o toggle position #3 - pickup #2 inside coil
If you really need the two single coils in parallel to be out of phase, you'll need two more poles on the mode switch. BTW - position 2/4 on a strat ain't out of phase.
OK, cancel the out of phase thing then, This is what I was thinking.
Mode switch position 1: Les / PRS sounds
o toggle position #1 - pickup #1 series humbucking.
o toggle position #2 - pickup #1 outside coil, pickup #2 outside coil, series humbucking
o toggle position #3 - pickup #2 series humbucking.
Mode switch position 2: Strat sounds
o toggle position #1 - pickup #1 outside coil
o toggle position #2 - pickup #1 inside coil, pickup #2 inside coil, parallel in phase, non-humbucking
o toggle position #3 - pickup #2 outside coil
So you got a diagram for that ? or even the one you explained above ?

Well, I wasnt particularly suggesting the Behringer. In fact I have never heard it, just using it as a starting point.
Since this is project guitar, I am going to suggest building something.
A 10" eminence or celestion can be had for under $40
A 12" for under $50.
So get 2 of one or the other, build a basic cab with a baffle to seperate the 2. You can have a dual 10" for less than $125, dual 12" for less than $150.
Get an amp similar to this
http://www.music123.com/Samson-Servo-200-P...p-i229215.music
and you have a true stereo setup that will absolutley scream for under $300.
Its rack mountable (you said you already have a rack) and will color your sound little to none.
-
Micing a small amp as opposed to blasting a 100-200W one right behind you is a lot better for your hearing too.
What did you say ? I could not hear you..........
I used a boss multi effect, a stack in a rack distorion thing, and ran it to a 125W PA amp that I got for $100
That to a peavey 4x12 rewired for 4 ohms. At 75 percent, it was loud enough that no one else in the house could hear anything but me playing.
If you want stereo, get a decent power 2 channel and go with it. If your processor is designed to be run direct to PA, it does not even have to be a guitar amp, though you might like that sound more. Run that to a stereo guitar cab and go.
We have a decent sized youth praise center (small club sized ) and my Peavey 30 watt practice amp is way loud enough to fill the place. It has a single 10"
If you like the behringer you could go with a combo http://www.behringer.com/GMX212/index.cfm?lang=ENG

That dimarzio 4pdt is listed as an on/on/on style, meaning three position. Do you happen to have any diagram how this switch works out position wise? I looked at the dimarzio site and couldn't find any info except for a few diagrams wired using the switch, but nothing about which terminal is which related to the switch positions.
no diagram. I think its like 2 on/on/on on their side

OK. heres what I have. I really want to use a 3 posistion toggle. I want to do bridge hum (series), single coil from each in series, and neck hum (series)
Then using a push / pull pot go to
bridge single coil, inner coils in reverse phase parallel (like a strat posistion 4), then neck single coil.
Can anyone figure this out ? I was planning on a 4pdt like from dimarzio. I have their diagram for center coil tap, I mad my own for center series single coils. I can get everything to work except the center. It seems I get one or the other.
By the way, the Dimarzio tech people couldnt figure this out. They said ti was not possible.
I really want a toggle and a single push / pull.
Somebody help !

I am interested, Is this 100 percent of the Kit ? Including all electronics ?
What is the kit number ? Fixed bridge ?

I agree with the to each his own thing. But nere is my issue. people think having an old strat is cool, and I agree. So people think it is just as cool to have a reliced strat. To me, being a punk rock type, a reliced strat is like the preppie in leather and studs. He is not a PUNK no matter how much he looks like one. And he aggrevates me for trying to be something he is not. So why not just be what you are ? even if it is a new guitar it will be cool in its own way.

So I am wondering if I can add side dots to my current guitar without refinishing the neck ? I was going to use the Stew Mac plastic side dot material, and I just want to add the side dots. Anybody have any ideas on this ?
It is a late 80s korean squier by the way.

Heres a Noob Question. Does the Kiln dried wood really make a diffference ? I am converting to hardtail, and I have found some sources for kiln dried wood fairly cheap, just wondering if that really made a difference, or if I should find some that is dried naturally.
-
OK, I have read the trem to hardtail conversion tutorial, so heres the question.
I have a 86 or so Squier HM ( Korean made) and I really like it. I am going to convert to hardtail, since I do not use the trem and would rather have the through body blah blah blah.
So what wood do I use ? Is it OK to not use the same wood ? Does anybody know what these are made of ? I was thinking of either trying to match the wood or use something better, just wondering if anybody thought that putting a different wood in the bridge location could / would improve the sound any.

The 2 push / pulls split each humbucker. 1 for each pickup.
