  1. what?? broke my heart, were you guys talking about me?? sorry i'm too lazy to read your big long post that you put alot of time and effort into it. if your cd rocks you don't need to have some fancy design. it doesn't cost that much to make a cd. you get the recording software, and you get the cd's. sure if you sell it online you charge something called SHIPPING AND HANDLING, might be a new word for the brighter ones here......even if we did want graphics that wouldn't cost $15. conformists suck. just because you guys are all 50 and you never became famous, and made lotsa money........................

All the more reason for you to read what Darren wrote...

  2. Hi, your right, I did slightly contradict myself by possibly wanting to use Fender's headstock design and then wanting the builder not to make another one of my designs. I think I will attemt to draw up a custom headstock shape. It's the more unique way of doing things since I have a uniqueish body. Thanks guys.

Good luck, I hope it goes well. :D

  3. Thanks, Reaper! Did you have any problems polishing it out? Oh, and how many cans/coats did you end up using?

I used the two cans that came with the Mirage kits (which weren't that great), and about a can and a half of the T/V/SUV stuff, which was noticably better. I put on about ten coats, polished it out with high-grade steel wool and Meguiars #7 (the "Show Car Glaze"). It's not the ultra-deep gloss that you see on some of the Carvin axes, but that's more due to my ability than to the paint itself. A few more coats, a little better polishing, and it definately could be.

  4. I'm looking for bassy pickups for my baritone project and wondered what humbucker style pickups are generally the best in the bassey category. I looked at Dimarzio's Site (no reall brand prefrence I just heard they make bassey pickups) and looked at the tone charts and considered the Sueper Distortion or the Parker ones. However, if anyone knows some really good lowend humbuckers that would be sweet. :D

I haven't used it myself, but from the descriptions, you may get a good tone out of a Steve's Special.

  5. All the oldtimers used to moan about acrylic lacquer not being hard enough. They said it wouldn't polish out like nitro, and wouldn't last as long (well, maybe, but we've seen how well nitro lasts on those old Fenders, so who knows). I've never heard anybody complain about acrylic's lack of clarity, but it may be the formula Duplicolor uses, or it may be another myth.

I just got done using the Duplicolor "truck, van, and SUV" clear on a tele... no clouding problems here at all.

  6. I wonder how that can work. In the garden there are winds and alot of dust and insects, etc. in the air. Doesn't that stuff get into the finish and ruin it?

I tried that, and ran into those exact problems... I then went to the garage: open the door, get a fan and/or a dehumidifier, lay down some newspaper, and you're set to go.

  7. I just painted a guitar using Dupli-Color auto spray in the little 5oz. cans from my local automotive supply parts place (Auto Zone), but you can get them just about anywhere including Wal-mart. They cost around $4 a can and I'll have to say not only did the atomization (mist of the paint coming out of the nozzle) impress me but also the dry time was fantastic.

I'll post photos later on today in the In Progress and Finished work Section.

Just did the same thing myself, but do yourself a favor: for $4, you can get a 5 oz. can of paint. For $5, you can get 11 oz.
