  1. There are two ways i can think of.

1st (and this is what I do as I do not have a jointer) use a router table with a split fence.  Get the fences square and perfectly even with the bit, so if you ran the board across there would be no cutting.  Then take the fence on your feed side and push it back just a hair.  You feed from that side, it cuts the wood and on the out side it's flush with the fence so it won't cut any deeper than that.  DO 2-3 passes and you'll be pretty spot on if you set it up right.

The other way would be to clamp the board down to a table top with the edge lapping over the edge of the table, and clamp a fence to the back of the board that will let you run your router along the straight edge and have it positioned to shave 1/16 of wood at a time off your board.  As long as your straight edge is straight you should be good to go.

Thats how to do it. and like i had said in other posts hand plans work well too, just takes some time and practice to get it down. for the time it would take to sand an edge you could do 100 edges with a hand plane.

    :D

  2. whats wrong with hand planes ?? does no one do all the work by hand anymore ? i mean 100% hand tools. No Power what so ever. ?????

My Next Guitar is going to be all done with out power tools. i think it will add to the guitar, for me that is. to anyone else the guitar will be the same. but the hard work, and time and the detail. it's all worth it.

  3. i just spent 350 canadain dollars on the parts and the wood for my guitar. i work at a cabinet shop, so i don't pay for tools. and i think i might get someone to finish for me, i think the cost of finishing will be more then $300, plus i don't know what i'm doing and would hate to mess it up and have to spend more on it. but i really want to finish it myself, just to say i did.

but all in all i'm looking at say 600 - 800 Canadian after all is said and done (with out a hardcase)

    :D:D

  4. the only thing is.. this guitar came with active pickups, and built in effects. thats what all the extra holes are for. i think it had 1 vol. 2 tone. 1 pick up select. and 3 effects. auto wha, over drive and chorus i think. and the inlay, so it can't be that guitar. but close. i think it was a costom RGX 112, because the body is the same, and the head is the same. same to a T. i wish now i would have looked a bit harder before i did all the work on it. but i'm almost 100% sure it didn't have any markings on it at all. all i know is it was pink, and had yamaha pickups.

    :D

  5. I'm thinking it might be an RGX 112.  Look at this link.

The 12 fret inlay has me stumped though.  Need more research .. lol

That looks like it, and the extra holes are because, it had built in effects. but the reason i got the guitar was beacsue it was droped and broken, and the effect boards got crushed, and the switches broke off. so i re wired it with only a vol.

    But thats the Guitar, 100%

  6. i don't know what i'm going to do to deal with the weight, but i don't want to do anything to the top, i got it just the way i want it. i was thinking of doing something on the back side, any ideas ?

i hope it looks good, i spent almost a year thinking about building a guitar, and sketching out ideas. and thats the one that jumped out for me. i want to start my next one asap. wanted to get a nice piece of flame maple for the top, and some alder for the body, i think that should help with the weight a bit. and i have to say that bllod wood for a fret board is killer.

  7. i got a set of humbuckers off ebay, T. Rockfield, is the brand name i guess, does anyone know anything about them ? i put one into an old yamaha guitar i fixed up, it doesn't sound to bad, but thats being played with a 10w amp, so you never really know.

and does anyone wanna talk about my guitar i'm maikng ? it's my first from scratch guitar and it's looking not to bad. it's flat grain maple, two pieces laminated. with a maple neck, and a blood wood fret board. right now i'm kinda scared making the body out of solid maple, it's super ass heavy.

oh, this is my first post, so be nice. i don't know how things work yet. so be nice.

    Laterz
