  1. WOW! I was actually given the super rare opportunity to pick this guitar up and play it a bit at the SEGAS show. I was there as a vendor and voted for this guitar for best in show. I'm told I'm the only person to get to play it because I am a fellow woodworker here on PG! Honored for the trust and support with the instrument. It plays like a dream! Great action, awesome sustain, incredible finish, I could just look at it for hours it's so sweet. Thanks for the trust!

PS. I only played sabbath on it:)

  2. Next time I want to try something other than poly...poly is too much like plastic. I sanded it all down to 320gt after the first couple web transfers and it all looks awesome, but I wish the wood grain was still able to be felt. Maybe I'm spraying the webs with too much paint...??? an suggestions out there?

  3. That would look really cool on a guitar. Sweet.

yes it would! Go for it my friend! Would love to see a guitar body with an authentic web on it, sooooo much nicer than a drawing or painting. Please be nice to spiders, and be safe, they bite:) I like to relocate them before i use any paint as they are sensitive to fumes. A jar works good, but you'll want a stick to get them off the web.

one more thing! Don't use too much poly or cover spray at first, it dissolves the paint and will sort of blur the web if you are not careful. Just use enough to make sure it makes good contact with the surface of the wood, then come back later to get a good coat over the web.

  5. I found the writing spider, actually my wife found her on the porch this AM. She's alive and well and working hard for us, I moved her back to her favorite spot... Writing spiders build a new web every day so it's pretty tough to get them before they are gone, and the last thing i want is to make her want to leave... This amp stand is looking awesome. I'm putting a poly coat over each web I find. Once I get enough webs transferred it will be ready to assemble:) Hope y'all like it! Josh

  6. Unfortunately I had to displace my local writing spider to make this panel,She wasn't hurt, I hope she comes back, she has two egg sacks ready to pop. I sprayed her webwith spray paint and draped a sanded panel across the web, then I added a poly coating to seal it. I might make this the back panel of the LED Logo Walnut studio stand that I hope to send to SEGAS with Blackfoot.

  7. This is the second one ever, we are incorporating a kick plate so it can be opened and close with a foot. we also have cold rolled steel @ 3/8" for the axles, as you can see I still need to cap the axle holes. I have a piece of walnut on the lathe to turn to 3/8" asap to make the dowel for the caps:) The next one will be a bit larger and have a completely new hinge design. Each attempt gets better, and each old design becomes more of a rarity in the design process because it will be a one of a kind in every aspect of the term:) Like a concept car...

Just a few more days and we will randomly draw a winner for the free amp stand! Josh

  8. Ah Man! thanks for all the kindness y'all. It was a lot of fun, I like maple a lot, especially ambrosia. he should get the stand in the mail today, heres the link to hs thread he started. warning it is a bit controversial at times because of a few haters, but I should get some pictures from him soon, with his amp set up, can't wait to see it in action!

Final pictures before I boxed it up below! My picture taking skills are getting better with each attempt, not my strong point though:)
