  1. Alrigth thanks Kev! I know what you mean about the safety thing but it's still not quite what I asked... Basically, that means that if I want to go from E standard to drop C, I CAN use just the deep C to allow dive only and detune or would the tension in the spring be too much and the trem will move a bit?

  2. 28.85 pounds for 2 days guaranteed, with parcelforce, assuming it's 30 kilos. 26 pounds of it's 25. I'm not sure of the weight, we have no scales here so I can't weigh it... I don't know many other couriers so if you think of any, tell me and meanwhile I'll try to get the weight. Next week is exam week though so I won't have a whole lot of time. After that though it's the holidays so I'll be able to do it.

  3. Hey guys! I have here a Laney pro tube 30W combo that I JUST retubed and rebiased: JJ 6V6s, JJECC83S (2) and I have in the mail two Ruby ECC83 that will complete the retubing. The amp can do any sounds, but I just don't like its overall voicing. I'm hoping to get enough money for a Laney LC15R so let's say £200 plus shipping? If you chose to have it shipped you'd have to tell me how because I have NO CLUE on how to get to it. Furthermore I have no cars and not many ways of moving around. Local collection (Edinburgh, Scotland) is the ideal solution but I can understand if you want it shipped. I'm opened to offers or straight trades for good 15W tube amps as well. Shoot! PM for any questions. If the price seem too much for you do tell me so.

  4. It was one of the new Electron blue models. The finish was actually very nice. The guitar's resonance didn't impress me, but it wasn't bad either. Where it really shined was the playing comfort. This wasn't a Squier folks... The neck felt GREAT. No sharp frets, no glue on the fret slots like I had seen very often in MIMs before. The rosewood was very dark and had a nice grain to it, the maple very light and it too looked beautiful.

I played her through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille and the bridge pickup was VERY bright, but not harsh as they can be. The neck pickup and especially position 4 sounded amazing for sweeps and leads, and that was with a CLEAN tone!! Distorted, the pickups had a little more output than on the old one I THINK (don't take my word for it) but not by a whole lot.

The nut was set WAY too high as usual. But the guitar felt VERY comfortable to play, with a decent action which allowed acrobatics. Fingerpicking wasn't hard either. The neck has a sweet feel to it. It was thin ish, but Strat like.

THIS ladies and gents, to me, felt like THE perfect blend of old and new for a Strat. She sounded like a strat, played like a super strat, and is the same price as the old ones.

I'm truly amazed and I mean this. It doesn't happen very often.

Ah also, in positions 1 3 and 5 the noise level is kept fairly low for single coils. The shielding works well it seems!

I can't comment too much on the frets as it had been a loooong time since I played the old style Strats though, sorry guys. But I'm sure some of you will know that. They're medium jumbo now and felt reasonably modern and big. I liked them. I just can't compare.

Another thing: Sustain was decent, but not impressive. If it were me, I'd lower the nut myself, use .10s or .11s and give her a more thorough setup. But even as it was, it was 100% playable, and well.

It's simple but I actually have great projects for it. I'll probably upgrade it with a graphic EQ that I'd get from a pedal if I have room for it.

But mostly I was thinking about building a cabinet for it with a little 8'' speaker and make it a little DIY champ. When I get to know more about amps I'll probably try to make it voice more like a Twin Reverb, maybe add a gain stage. I'll keep it simple, BUT make it more complicated B) that's how us French people think (and NO I won't give up :laugh2: )

However... If anyone's good with photoshop (or paint? :D ), I wouldn't mind some design help, and good suggestions for a 8''. The speaker needs to be decent, not amazing. Same for the cab, should I just use Pine Plywood?

Thanks for ANY suggestions, no matter how silly :D

  6. Because I have no cutting tools and buying them would be more expensive than getting the pickguard hehe... Yeah I do have the old template. I just want a custom one for now. And yes, it's a Charvel model 1a, sorry I copied that from a forum where I show off my guitars a lot :D

The DiMarzio AirZone is a pickup I just sold that brought me my first money into my paypal account.

I can only pay through paypal, that's my main problem :D

  7. I got paid for the AirZone so I can finally get this pickguard I want for the model 1a. I recently learnt that standard 8 holes Strat pickguard will fit so that's great news, but not all companies offer what I want.

Matt black single ply, 2 holes (in between holes 1 and 2, and 2 and 3 compared to a normal Strat) for knobs, standard 5 way switch, routed for one hum at the bridge and a single at the neck.

Now I know Warmoth would do it, but I don't know how it'd happen for the taxes since I do not have a credit card. If I get caught I wouldn't be able to pay. I'd rather call up a place in Europe (no taxes) or in the UK.

Would you guys happen to know anywhere?

  8. The DiMarzio is $55 shipped to the UK, $60 to the US.

The Bareknuckle is £75 (133 dollars) shipped to the UK, £78 ($140) shipped to the US.

Both are all black, have a lot of wire left (over 30cms/1ft for the MM, 28cms for the AZ).

The AZ is shipped with its screws and bolts, looks MINT, the covers are matt black and it's sexy as hell. Just not a pickup for me. With a demud mod and wired in Parrallel I think it'd be a great neck pickup in a bright guitar, but I have no guitar with neck humbuckers :D It has a great lead tone, very singing and smooth.

The MM is shipped only by itself sorry guys. I lack screws and springs enough already :D It's also black, been on 2 guitars only, hasn't seen heavy use. Some marks on the cover that were there when it arrived (I bought it brand new from Bareknuckle in November I think). It's very tight, quite bright, with a good lead tone, well crunchy. REALLY good definition. Great pickup overall, I just like a little more midrange.

If the prices don't seem too right, don't be affraid to tell me. The AZ will finance a pickguard and the MM a retubing though, and I'd really like a bit of money back from the MM.

I should be able to take pics if needed I guess. One of my flatmates has a digicam that I MAY be able to borrow.

    Paypal preffered.
