  1. No Way!!!!!! I just dont get the relic whole scene. I like my guitars shiny and new, so artificially aging them seems a little dumb to me. I have all new hardware from the Floyd Rose to the Schaller machine heads and the Seymor Duncan Custom pickup, so I figure the body should match. Each to their own I guess.
  2. I managed to drill and attach the neck tonight. I installed the machine heads and Floyd, and strung her up. I cant believe how low the action is without fret buzz. Its actually much lower than I would usually have but the bigger frets help with string bends. Ill leave the string tuned to concert pitch for a day or so and let the neck settle in, then its tear down time and finish the paint.
  3. i couldnt resist doing that logo in photoshop, it should look pretty damn good on the back of the headstock.
  4. Yeah, I was thinking about putting this logo on the back of the headstock too........ Just for that authentic............ "cease and desist" vibe. I cant get sued if its for personal use can I??????????? Just wondering.
  5. Nah, with a respirator all you can smell is the rubber in the mask. I actually love the smell of poly but its so toxic, it aint worth risking it. Ill give it a couple of days and then I'll assemble the whole guitar, check the clearences, line up and drill the neck and string her up. If everything works ok, then I'll pull it apart again and finish the paint job. I figure now is the time to do a mock assembly as any marks I happen to make will be sanded out before the next few coats of paint.
  6. Body and neck are pretty much dry after hanging in the oven to cure for the day. I love polyurithane for guitar bodies, its so easy to get a good looking paint job, but pretty toxic without the right gear.
  7. He he good eye there Litchfield. Scott, what pickups are in the four beauties?
  8. Yeah Scott, the MXR knobs are what I meant. My guess is the EVH Lawyers decided to interfere.
  9. Man thats just a beautiful sight!!!!!! Whats with the wrong knobs on the 5150's tho? I started the white base coats today, the body is hanging in the spray booth/oven for a few hours to harden up. I also painted the base coat on the neck too. I cant wait to get the stripes happening.
  10. I think thats going to be my next project. Those charvell's look killer. My 5150 is almost ready for paint now, should happen in a day or so and Ill get some pics up.
  11. OU812 was definately Pre-ErnieBall. Are you sure you dont mean the black and yellow VanHalen 2 Charvell? The OU812 guitar was a Steinberger.
  12. Hey Scott, Im not sure about the clear yet. Your method might be the way to go. Dont suppose you can post some pics? Wouldnt mind seeing what that method looks like.
  13. Haven't had much chance to work on it this week, Ill get the body painted in base coat white next monday or tuesday, then its time to fit the hardware up and drill the neck. Once Im happy with the setup, Ill tear it apart again and finish the paint job with the stripes and then the clear.
  14. Im sure some people are going to say it will, but I just dont buy it. Im sure it will resonate just fine. Besides, with a high output humbucker and distortion, I bet no one will ever notice. Ive owned plywood body guitars that sounded fantastic with decent pickups, so Im not too concerned.
  15. Got all the parts now, a little more body work and she'll be ready for paint.
  16. Body is now primed and the repair looks good. Hopefully when its painted there wont be any trace of the neck pickup routing either. So far so good.
  17. Audioslave - Cochise Dire Straights - Sultans of Swing Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child Metallica - Enter Sandman Here you all go.
  18. Excellent, thats great.
  19. Local print shop. Laser printing is great, it doesnt smudge when you soak them in water and then clear over them.
  20. Great, keep them coming.
  21. Brian is the all seeing all knowing being that is responsible for us all being here...................well not here as such, just here at this forum. I mean he's good but he ain't THAT good!
  22. Thought it might be a good idea to post some really slowed down mp3s of some popular guitar riffs. I know when i was begining the hardest part about learning from cd's was that they were just too damn fast to pick up all of the notes. If anyone can take the time to record some slowed down riffs like the one below, it would be appreciated. Oh and if any beginners have requests feel free to ask. Guns and Roses - Mr Brownstone main riff
