This is my first post so hello to everyone. I've got an Epiphone Dot Studio 335 which I bought new. I'm really happy with it...lots of sustain and a nice solid feel...heavy guitar...
However, I feel the nut is a bit high which is making the action a bit high and perhaps sharpening some the notes and I would like to file it down a bit. I am using guage 10 strings and I have sent off for a set of nut files. I was just wondering whether there were specific heights to file to for each string...I don't want to go too low...I've watched a few videos on doing this for acoustic guitar on youtube but I guess it might be different for semi-acoustics?
I also feel that the truss rod could do with loosening just a tad...I saw a video where the guy put a capo on the 1st fret and then pressed the string down at the 15th fret and measured the distance of the string from the fret at the 7th fret using a feeler guage (which I bought)..He reckoned it should be 11 thousandths of an inch...Is it the same for a hollow body guitar?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise me here...
