thanks you two for posting replies.....i however do not know what the posts on the 5-way do. as you can see i'm a newb. could you break down the function of each post on the back if you have time.....my posts are all in a line too, ive seen some that are staggered.

i am running 3 different and unique picups in my strat, is it possible to just have volume controls on the pickups and lose the tone controls altogether? i dont mess with tone anyway, and by turning the volume down slightly, you get similar to the same response as the tone knob does.

I have a S/S/S strat. im putting a chopper at the bridge, and i want to run it with its own volume instead of the standard volume. basically it will be controlled independent of the two single coils remaining. you have any good links to show how to wire this? cause i cant find it, and my basic electronics is a lil rusty and its being a pain to figure out.

the other question about the pots to use was already answered.

the last one, since one tone knob would be sacraficed for volume, would you recommend changing the cap on the last tone knob. as of right now, all i know is its green, i dont know numbers on it.

ok so......push-pull pots - can they achieve the same possibilities as the new fender s-1 system?

dimarzio chopper, i want on its on volume, so id sacrafice a tone (eddie didnt have tone knobs anyway and look how he sounded) so how would i wire that?

250K or 500K on the chopper?

and would you recommend changing the cap on the remaining tone knob?

Just wire 'em back to back, anode to cathode, and put 'em where the cap would be. You'll need to use schottky or germanium diodes unless you've got über-hot pickups, and even then the results are (IMO) monumentally unimpressive. A forum search for Strawberry Ice will get you more info.

can somebody give me guidance on how to use two diodes on the tone pot to create the same effect as a black ice.

also, im wiring a dimarzio chopper in the bridge position, and would like one tone knob to be solely the volume for that pickup, any help on that.
