  2. Hey guys. This has gotta be so simple but i can't seem to find a diagram :s I don't know anything about wiring i just know how to solder. I need to wire up a single humbucker to a two way selector switch, no tone or volume pots. One position for ON, one position for OFF, thats it Can anyone help me out please? Thanks
  3. Heya guys n gals. First off, i know the BL thing has been covered a billion times over but i can't seem to find the answer to my question. I just need something cleared up if possible. I'm trying to work out what bridge pickup Nuno used in his original N4. I've read as much as i can stand on the matter, what with the arguments better billlawrenceusa.com and billlawrence.com. It's my understanding the later is the real thing but the billlawrenceusa is by no means a poor pickup, but who knows. Way i figure it, whateva his thoughts to running a business, end of the day he was the original creator of the pickups whether he holds the trademark or not. Now i know the now make what they call an exact replica of Nunos N4, that been the N4 Relic but how exact is it? The Relic uses Bill Lawrence USA pickups, i'm told due to the fact they can manufacture at a far quicker rate to Willi himself. This i don't doubt, but surely Nuno would get special treatment himself? and got to Willi n Becky if its a superior product? Also does he use the 500L or XL Any info would be much appreciated thanks
  4. Yeah i'm aware of the frankenstrat's scratchplate. I wasn't trying to copy it, it just gave me the idea to get those controls outta my way I'll fasten them down in there i guess. Just there was some sort of metalic shield on the underside of the pickguard, hope it didnt play to much of a part in protecting me from shocks
  5. Howdy folks Just a quickie. A few years ago i bought a beat up jap strat for not to much $. It's right handed and i'm left handed. I figured if it's good enough for Jimi then it'll certainly do the job for me When i got it i ripped out the middle coil as i found it just hampered my playing plus the fact i never use middle coils anyway. I also removed the two tone pots as they to got in the way. To make picking easier i then moved the volume to the middle position as seen here Old Strat And that was fine up until tonight really when i realised another problem with the guitar which has been there since the start but i just failed to realise there was something i could do. I was looking across a few guitars online and then all of a sudden the Frankenstrat set a burst of energy through me... ... 5 minutes later and this is what happened. Cavity New Strat Now that all the control are outta the way, buried in the cavity my question to you guys is, is it safe to just leave them dangling there? I don't know a fat lot about electricity, only that it's generally people like me that find themselves on the recieving end of a shock Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated Thanks
  6. I'm not sure yet as its a auction, but not very much at all i don't think. Thing is, im left handed and am wishing to do the Edge Conversion (http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/rtltcon.htm) Granted its a different model but i've checked it out and indeed the Edge Pro II also has the hole cut underneath to mount the bar. It seams a simple enough process If i did go down this route i think i'd probably get the plate re-chromed.
  7. Has anyone had any experience with either one of these trems? Price wise the Edge Pro is considerably more expensive, just wondering if it is worth the extra $. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
  8. I'm trying to get hold of a lump of Bubinga for a neck on a new project im working on but am having considerable difficulty. My aim is to make a left handed guitar matching the style of a Warwick bass. I've found two pieces Clicky that when glued together will give a total thinkness of 3 1/2", which should be ok. Can anyone see any reason why i shouldn't go down this route? Ideally i'd like it one piece so if anyone has and suggestions they'd be much appreciated.
  9. Hi all. I've got an old guitar (Washburn Hawk or Falcon i believe) i've had for quite a long while now and it's in much need for some tlc. It's solid mahogany neck/body and played like no other when it was in some sort of fit state. Just wondering if you guys think it's even worth it? The guitar holds a lot of sentimental value to me so i'd love to restore it, originally the guitar was right handed and many moons ago my father and i attempted to convert it to suit me, a left hooker As you can see neither of us had much knowledge about guitar craftmenship, nor the tools for the job. I was 14 at the time though, i think my old man only stepped in cuz he had visions of me taking a finger off :s Anyhow, a lots changed in my life since then and i wanna give this a shot. First off if you look at the pictures its in a pretty bad way, you'll also notice a slight fracture to the neck. I personally don't think it's anything to drastic as its not gone right through or anything, still feels solid as a rock. Also you'll notice on the back of the body the old cavity when it was right handed was filled with a lump of mahogany. I basically need to strip everything. I really wanna do a professional job of this, smooth it right out with some sort of filler. Maybe even veneer the top? Was also thinking of putting some fancy inlays in too as the old ones are shot to **** Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. JonnyC
