I have made my first guitar in a pretty unserious matter. I would rather like to get on with a serious guitar now, so I wanted help to decide if i should finish the Scrapocaster or just let it be as it is. I will keep it, whatever the result becomes.

The pickup, bridge, and the "overboard" electronics.

Well here's mine. I call it Lap Steel Scrapocaster. It is generally made of a properly worm-eaten oak plank that i paid 100 NOK ($15) for.

It has a really nice Schaller brige with tailpiece, which is the most expensive thing on the guitar.

The fretboard is a nicely cut piece of paper with pencil marks and fret numbers.

The electronics is "over-board". There is no cavity cover on it.

Pickup: A DiMarzio I also paid 15 bucks for. To cover that cavity I took a nice plank of teak that previously was on the ceiling of my bathroom, cut it, broke it, and taped it onto the guitar.

The nut is an aluminiun angle. I have no clue where it came from. Just showed up when I needed one.

The tuners is not really much to talk about, but they work.

And, last, my amp... one of the cheapest here on PG... An old stereo I found on a scrapyard. Works really good.

It's amazing that this thing works. I have played it, and it sounds quite well.

I have an idea. I want to have a guitar with a ON/OFF switch to toggle the overdrive on and off. Does the tone pot was adjust the overdrive-level? (I would belive so...) If not i would be happy if i could get that too .

Is this possible and could someone please tell me how to do it? Give me a way to do it, not just the parts i need

I would really appreciate if this tutorial was continued. It would be great to know how to do it. Maybe a holoflash guitar with LEDs as fret markers and fiber optics on the side. That would be nice

Okay, okay, call me stupid, dumb, silly or whatever the word u would use for posting here now but I wanna have it all clear:

1. I make a guitar that looks like/is a replica of i.e. a stratocaster

2. I sell it under another name than Fender and I do not call it a stratocaster

3. And I put the name Islandstone or Øystein (?) on the headstock

4. And do not by any other means referr to it as a Fender Stratocaster or anything like it

Is this legal? Or do I have to make more changes for it to be legal, and what?

I live in Norway BTW.

I wondered if anyone else had experienced the same. I don't have to know it.

BTW The guitar is a acoustic Fender, the >saddle< is plastic, and maybe you're right louder, but also clearer and less "buzz" in the sound.

Hmm, it's a shame that it's been made before. Maybe I should make a tanks-guitar lol...

Well, was interesting guitars on the links, so I will consider making the machine-gun, though.

I hope it turns out good, but first there will be some other guitars...

I am not a big fan of western music, but I've got an idea.

I have thought about making a guitar that looks like a revolver. And the the trigger can be the switch. And the barrel (I hope thats the right word) can be the neck, I'll just extend it.

Maybe something like this shape

Any comments about this idea?

I played on my guitar as usual. Suddenly, I realised it was a crack by the slot where the bridge sits in. Okay, the bridge is still on, so it's no problem. But one day, that crack got really open, and it snapped. So i glued it back on with some CA glue. And the sound was bad. But then I thougt to put in the plastic strips under the bridge (I got them with the guitar) and the strings got raised a bit, and then of a sudden, the guitar sounded better than ever. Any explanation?

I am absolutely sorry for this, and it is, a terribly stupid question.

I am building my first guitar (that lapsteel thing at buildyuorguitar.com) and has come to mounting the pickup.

My question is: How should i mount the srings, and how does the screw make the pickup go up and down?? Again, terribly sorry for that stupid question
