very nice work!
-
Thanks!... glad you like it. I'm currently on the finishing stage, first coat of nitro after 6 coats of grain filler.
-
My condolences...
-
However you could just print the PDF, tape it to the board and slot it by hand using a Carpenter's Sliding Bevel as a guide.
I wouldn't 'print and cut' a fretboard layout, since common printers don't give exact measures IMHO... I prefer to measure fret slots by hand. There are other areas of the guitar where a printer is very useful, but fret slots are probably one of few areas where measure really matters, I think...

Grain filler scrapes off binding easily.
Thanks! I didn't thought on that...
-
best way to glue binding, like in the end of the headstock is to use acetone. That way you'll get invisible joints
Already fixed
I have a stupid question: I'm for the grain filling stage, and I'll apply it with brush... do I need to tap the binding for the grain filler or it could be applied over it like another coat of nitro?...

but some of us are just plain braindead when it comes to pickups & the rest of the electrical bits in a guitar. I personaly believe electricity is a plot by magic ninjas, how else can it be explained
Add me to the list, I feel like a retarded at wiring time...
-
... and I can't sell it because I know it sucks.
Same here... I'm looking for a perfect job before sell anything... and still waiting.

Thanks everybody!
The only negative (and I had to look hard to find any!) is that the lack of a secondary angle in the top carve to create a neck angle and the lack of heel contouring makes the heel look a bit fat and deep. I can appreciate how this would be an additional pressure in making the top carve correct however!
Totally agree... you forgot to mention the crappy binding end near to the heel (still thinking how to fix it)... that was a big design fail, this is my 6th build, and learning from errors...
-
gracias eddie... my english is a crap
-
Thanks!
are you gonna throw some finish on it? I'd hate to see it chip or discolor.
sure, I'll finish it with nitro applied with brush... What do you mean with chip/discolor?... sorry, I don't understand...

Hope you wore a mask working that wenge with a grinder, wenge dust is some of the nastiest stuff iv ever had to deal with.
well... I use glasses (to see), so I fill uncomfortable with small white masks while working on wood... I only use a mask when working with bone or MOP.
-
Looks great.is there a finish on it yet?
not yet... that's pure wood.
thanks!

Hi there,
finally I got this build roughly finished and took some pics. Hope you like it
-
Hi there,
Now the build is almost finished, just need the strings to adjust the nut... I made it from a cow bone.
More to come.
saludos!

The 5 min stuff can be converted to 48h (or more) stuff if you add less catalyst(?)... trust me
-
thanks very much!
-
it was a SSL issue, solved now... nice woods there, love the fretboard.
-
For some reason, I can't see the pics...
-
Thanks demonx!... and nice axe you're building, love the wenge neck well, love all your work, I'm your follower in the dark number one... hope some day I will have a workshop like yours.
-
Thanks!
Today's work... putting the frets. Now the topic runs at realtime... XD
Also a quick preview of the whole thing... i like it, just that.
Thanks for watching!

I was expecting the joke about the pink towel... sorry, I didn't focus on the color of the towel while working on wood... XD
Yes, I work in my apartment... I make the 'dirty' job in the balcony but I have a little 'workship' in a room... my neighbors are more noisy than me, I don't care.
thanks for comments!

No, you certainly don't have to spend $75 on a hardtail bridge, but you will have a crap product if you spend $15.
I bought the hardtail in eBay, it cost exactly... errrm... $15 XD
it looks good, but sure there are better bridges out there. However, it's very difficult to buy 'inexpensive' parts for a 7 string, I had to buy 2 complete hedstocks to get the extra tuner... anyway, you always can upgrade them later.
I'm hoping there's some time lapse there or I was just put to shame and this went together SO quickly!
Yes, as I said at beginning, I started the project 2 months ago... sorry, I feel a bit 'insecure' in this forum, there are too much serious builders here.
I live in Almería, south of Spain... thanks for comments!

Routing for binding...
Binding time...
Giving a security contour, ready for carved...
Carving the top...
And the finished product...
Also carved the whole back...
That's all for now... it still needs the fret job, but near to completion.
Hope you like it!
