Hi all,
got a bit carried away carving the top of my latest guitar and I've left my sel a problem with my jack plug hole.
Basically I'm looking for any help you guys can give me so that I can remedy the situation.
I had thought about a barrel type jack plug but I fear the hole itself would be too large.

Don't get these bridges - Get the ones that have adjustable saddles like this: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailp...und_Bridge.html
I wouldn't want a guitar with a bridge that has no adjustments for intonation.
Don't know that I'd fancy a bridge with screws sticking out of the back of it like that.

I was thinking of using on of these on my next project
My question is this. Does this type of bridge work better with particular scale lengths? or is it a case of one size fitting all?
Any light that you could shed on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I sometimes wonder what happens to the individual bodies that I sell, do they ever become guitars or do they lie on some shelf as 'must do' project that never materializes.
I have to say that I was really chuffed (do people still use this expression) when I was sent these pictures. It's nice to have played a part in the constuction of (at least what I consider to be) a fine looking instrument.
I will pass on your comments about the headstock, and will get back to my drawing board in preparation for my next project. A mahogany, maple capped PRS style body. I'll post the pictures when I get started.

Hi all,
I've been reading this site for months now in anticipation of building my own guitars, and it has been a tremendous help.
Since I'm not yet confident (nor competent) enough to build my own necks, I've stuck to building generic Strat and Tele type bodies that I can drop a replacement neck in without too much bother.
I've kept most of my early bodies, but I decided to sell one on Ebay (needed to generate some cash for more wood ). Anyway I asked him to send me a picture of the finished article, but since it had been a few months ago I had forgotten all about it. So you can imagine my surprise when these pictures fillen my inbox. I was really surprised, so I thought it was about time that I let you guys run your eyes over my efforts, and brace myself for your comments and advice.

Hi all,
I've been bitten by the guitar building bug in a big way*, but my wife has told me that my 'hobby/obsession' needs to start paying for itself, so I sell every second guitar body I make on Ebay to pay for the next batch of wood.
What do you think of my Strat style body? Am I wasting my time?
Any comments, criticisms, or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Ralph
*I love this site so much that I have now read up to page 243 of the Solid body chat.

hi all,
New to the forum, but suitably impressed, so I donated when I joined. When will my profile show that I have donated so that I can see the downloadable content?

Nothing to see here -- just a quick test.
Selling Bodies

It depends what your aims are.
I have sold a number of my guitar bodies on ebay, typically nicely figured Ash Strat style bodies. I make enough money to buy the next piece of timber. I promised my wife when I started buying all the tools that I needed to build guitars that I wanted a hobby that would eventually pay for itself. It just about does that, but not much more to be honest.
Be realistic in your outlook.
