  1. Thanks charlie, thats exactly the kind of "to easy why didn't I think of that" I was looking for :D I did use a template for the body shape, Then we rounded the edges with a router. He also wants to add a armrest area.

This will be more exp inspired than an attempt at a copy. I'm happier with that anyway. If he just wanted a clone, hell there's plenty of cheap hammers and whatnot out there we could have gotten and spruced up.

    heres some more progress pics-

Well thats all for now. Thanks again for the advice and please feel free to keep it coming :) I'm wanting this to turn out well for my friend, Measuring 4 or 5 times and then cutting haha.

  2. I've put together a few guitars, partscasters, kits, simple stuff. This is the first "from scratch" build.

A friend has been liking what I've been doing and asked if we could make him one. I said "sure, No garuntee it will be perfect" He said cool and off we went.

After gluing the blank together, we cut it out and we have a pretty decent exp shape.

so thats where we're at now. I also have a neck with the truss rod installed and a fretboard from stew mac.

The only issue I'm having right now is the fretboard needs trimmed down to fit the neck prior to gluing. Any suggestions on the best method to make the taper perfect? Right now its all right angles.

I have to add, I love this site and I love all the amazing work you guys are doing. I managed a 12 string with locking tuners and a tremolo thanks to stuff I found on here.

Craftmanship wise, not on par with most of what I see hear, but it plays and sounds great.

  3. Gotta second the fuzz into clean amp thing. Black arts toneworks pharoah is my new favorite thing. Stacks well and crushes esecially into a slightly overdriven amp.

this dunwich amps demo is a good example of what I mean. It sounds grittier with my setup but this is nice.

  4. I used the cloth discs from Harbor freight attached to a dewault cordless drill. I have severall different sizes wich is nice for getting into the cutaways and smaller areas. the larger ones work best for the top and back though. this is my still in progress lp axcess tribute wich pales in comparison to most of what I have seen here, but its shiny!531200_3654823603654_1066482185_3360370_49490729_n.jpg

  5. Dont't tear out your shielding! You probably just need to bend some wires or add something to keep it from grounding out. I've done the same thing a few times and normally its just a matter of bending a wire.

Edit, And my first post here is in a necro thread :D
