Thanks for the suggestions. I may just leave the poly on the frets. I mostly didn't like it on the neck. Was going to go back over it with nitro. I should be able to tape off the fretboard and leave it as is while I spray the remaining wood with nitro.

I would like to remove the poly from my warmoth maple neck.  Biggest concern is doing the fretboard.  Would it work to remove the frets, sand the finish off, then reinstall the same frets?

I understand about the lsr neck needing to be closer to the bridge. I thought I had read where it did work with the lsr nut. But if what you say is correct, shouldn't I have the opposite problem (can't make it short enough)? Tuned to pitch, fretting on 12th fret is sharp. I thought you needed the nut to bridge length longer to correct this problem. Your suggestion would make it shorter.

I have partscaster that I put a mighty mite neck cut for floyd rose nut. I installed a Fender lsr nut on it and put it together.. Everything seems fine except intonation. My 12th fretted note is sharp and I have moved the saddle back as far as it will go.

The FR nut was a bit wider than the fender roller nut. Is it possible the nut is too close to the 1st fret? I placed it flush with the 1st fret as you would expect. Not sure how s floyd rose nut works or if the string contact point is closer to the tuners than the lsr is. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, I will take your advise and do something not as nice. I did just pick up a nice piece of 8/4 mohagony. My thinking is something similar to LP but with some chambering to reduce the weight. What would you recommend for a cap piece and how thick would it need to me?

but isn't a LP top a solid maple cap?

I know this is crazy but I would like to build an arched top solid body instrument. I'm going to pick out some lumber tomorrow (mohagony and quilted maple) and wanted to know how thick is the maple cap need to be to achieve an arched profile? I was going to look for 4/4 lumber but after sawing down the middle to create a bookmatched pair that would leave less than 1/2" thickness. Is that enough?

Also, any suggestions on something to look for on the mohagany body and neck stock? I figure 8/4 lumber would do for that.
