  1. Hey all.. I am building my beauty soon and I want that Quilted Maple finish.. but without the $700 price or whatever haha.. I am planning on using a Neckthru neck with 2 alder board sides, so I assume I need a quilted maple laminate board.. rather than a 1/2 inch board.. 1/8th quilted maple should work right? That way the stain should still show, just the sound is still a solid body 3piece.. This stuff is friggin expensive.. I only found one piece of 1/8th quilted maple on StewMac and it wasnt even the right size for my guitar, for like $90 US! Is it all that expensive? Damn hah.. Im building basically a Death Kelly so I need something within that shape, and hoping to not pay too much for the quilted maple laminate, since its just a laminate, it shouldnt be $100 lol.. Also, how would I go about staining this? or attaching it to the actual guitar rather? Would I attach it then route pickups/etc or ?
  2. I think if that neck u ordered from him is good, im gonna order an acoustic AND strat from him! I have a ***** acoustic I wanna get rid of, and my friend wants it for $200, so with that $200 I might buy one from him, least it'll look nice lol.. then buy a ***** strat from him thats all inlayed up, and replace the pickups.. i mean if those are real inlays, even if its like plywood, its nice to have just to look at and make people think u have amazing stuff, then if they want tone ill just pull out my custom guitar im working on hah They do look amazing though! Language Warning
  3. Awesome.. ill be waiting those 8-10 days ^^ heres the TRC btw.. looks nice I guess other than the crack, dont mind my bad paintjob, im gonna sand it and use gloss-black rather than flat-black (my mistake when shopping) lol http://h1.ripway.com/OneSorrOW/neckon004.jpg
  4. it was this truss rod cover tho, ill get pics of the actual thing soon as possible though, heres link http://cgi.ebay.ca/Guitar-Parts-Truss-Rod-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. ahh crap.. yea ill direct link them when i get home Please do tell me as soon as possible.. think im gonna order one if their any good ^^
  6. bump for people who wanna see that trc also, when is the neck gonna get in to you?
  7. hope u guys can see this.. Its my new neck.. But I didn't finish the paintjob, It bubbled then didnt stick lol but I am going to repaint it as soon as I buy a painting guitars book.. hopefully soon.. and make a nice finish on it Click here for the picture of my neck ^^ Thats the truss rod cover though, crack and all.. lol EDIT: Aww crap.. you're gonna have to goto my photos and the very last 2 images are of the truss rod cover ON my guitar hah
  8. yeah ill post a pic when I get home.. of it on my guitar too hah even though it isnt finished, its a start.. its ok I guess, I think it cracked because it was shipped in like super freezing cold weather then I put it down in my house without the protection around it (shipping package) and then i woke up and it was cracked.. so i dunno if i cracked it when i put it down or what.. eh lol
  9. Tell us how the neck is when you get it, im interested in those necks I bought a truss rod cover from that guy though, it seems like plastic more than MOP inlays though, and it cracked in the middle for some reason, but eh.. I dunno.. hopefully the necks are better.. Do tell if its real MOP and if its a good quality neck when you get it!
  10. Yea that is totally true.. The problem is I dunno if I even know a carpenter who can even route stuff for me! let alone know what hes doing heh.. so I'm trying to get everything done without the use of routing or anything, but guess thats unavoidable.. yeah if I get this neck made though, it should be alot easier to just build my own body and route it myself, assuming I learn how to make the correct scale length.. but I heard with a floyd u can adjust the intonation? is that true? confirm it someone hehe
  11. Where could I buy a Set-neck body? I saw that website someone gave me in the last website that has the set-necks for only like $200, so think I might order one of those, but where can I get some custom bodies that have Set neck routes already? I would feel kinda risky doing that, if like the strings aren't high enough and all that stuff lol.. Any info for me is help, Thanks buds
  12. Hmm I might try ordering one from that website there, a Set Neck one.. those seem to be quite good.. $200 and im sure if he just added inlays for me it shouldnt be over like $300 since my inlay options arent too hard (simple really) so that would be awesome.. altho $300 for a neck is a shitload, it would be worth it for my dream guitar I guess..
  13. a set of star MOP inlays at stewmac are like $50.. so not too bad
  14. I was just asking.. figured people here has ordered one before, so it would be best to ask here.. I can't decide weither or not I am making a bolt-on or neckthru.. it all depends on if I can get this local carpenter who made guitars before or not, cause if I can't find someone who knows how to do exact scales and all that **** needed, no way im buying a neckthru.. but if I can get him, then maybe I will get a neckthru because he'll know what to do I have a good wizard neck off an old RG I might use for a bolton, just order the pre-routed blanks off Warmoth and another blank to make my shape, and then since it routes the neck socket and floyd, I won't need to do the measurements of the scale length and all that.. because with the little experiance I have, I don't wanna take that chance to spend so much then mess it up
  15. If I called Carvin, would it be possible to have different options on their neckthru blanks (NT-6 I believe)?? I am looking for these options for a neck: -Locking floyd nut -Different inlays (Possibly Stars) -Maybe different back contour (Wizard neck style) Would they be able to do that stuff for me? or at least the top 2.. That would be sweet.. also if they can, how much extra do you think it'll cost?
