  1. Hi guys and fellow fine guitarist i would like to know what is the brand of MR Rob johnson's guitar posing when he did his cover page for his first solo alumb titled guitarchitecture?? i am not sure if is a tokai japanese made guitar?? please correct me if i am wrong :D:D

It's a custom Greco 7-string. Here's a better picture of it from the inside of the Guitarchitecture lienr notes at http://www.guitar9.com/aghtml/image/guitarchitecturealb7.jpg

He endorsed Ibanez in the past, and I think still does.

    GBT

Awwww thanks for ya great information oh rob johnson guitar he uses is sure rare brand hehehe

  2. Duncan's a great company and Seymour has done a lot for the music community--probably as much if not more than Leo Fender himself. I actually just put a couple of Duncan pickups in my Les Paul last weekend and I've used various models of Duncans over the last 7 years.

I did almost try a set of Dimarzio's instead, but the only place that still carries them around Kansas City is Guitar Center. I don't know what's up with them, but the people there didn't know anything about the pickups they were selling, and I didn't want to be stuck with a set of special-order pickups (AirZone and AirClassic) if I didn't care for them, so I stuck with the Duncan '59 and APH-1 instead.

I'd say try to find some guitars equipped with a set of pickups you're interested in, and go from there. That's what I usually do.

thanks for ya info fellow friends and sorry for my late reply and appreciation :D

  3. i know of this sweeping master too from CFH he is from greece very nice friendly guy here and all he does is sweeping all night long with his burning guitar picks hahaha he is theodore ziras check him out at chops from hell . i gotten his videos together with rusty cooley !!!! :D

  4. I did reset my claw so the bridge sat level.  I had a problem like your having with a BC rich I had. No matter how may springs or how they were configured, I would always be out of tune after I used the bar.  The block on the bottom of the trem was the problem.  The metal used for the block was not very rigid, and it would bend ever so slightly untill one of the springs actually came out(took about a year). Since the trem has been replaced, no problems.

Hi ibanez crazy hehe thanks for ya info on that too hearing your tremolo in that condition also breaks me heart dude thats a BC rich !!! well i think i gotta change my tremolo then from overseas hope that works out :D

gosh i think for that particular block that the cawl hooked on which came loose its gotta take a great amount of shock for your tremolo system!! hehe anyway is nice hearing your guitar going top condition but i checked my tremolo its block stays fit and hardy i dont know if my knife edge does hurts or damage kakaka

  5. I believe Dime played on L500-L's, not the L500-XL. I was reading on the Bill Lawrence forum a while back that the Dimebucker was actually a copy of a PROTOTYPE that Bill and Becky had wound up custom for testing by Dime in a new signature Washburn guitar. They sent a few pickups to Washburn, known internally as the L500-L+, and about a year later after hearing nothing back from Washburn the Dimebucker was introduced by Duncan--an exact, wind-for-wind copy of the L+ prototype.

In short, Bill and Becky got screwed by Washburn. Understandably, Washburn probably figured out that B&B couldn't keep up with demand of the new guitar, so they "outsourced" to a bigger company. Probably why Bill decided to provided his "services" directly to Fender for the SCN and Danny Gatton pickups rather than just wind a few prototypes and let himself get screwed again by another big guitar company.

I have no doubt that the Dimebucker is a fine pickup for what it was designed to be and Duncan is worlds better than the Wajcman pickups, but if the story's true, I don't think I could really ever buy one.

Ohh i see hehe thanks for sharing :D well i would probably see bill lawrence pickup being a custom pickup for professional artist?? far as i know seymour duncan is also a good pickup company that mass produce their wonderful product :D i got a jazz SHN2 by duncan and is was good!!!! hehehe what do you think of duncan company itself?? and dimarzio or EMGs?? what are e dfference?? ibanez players tends to use more dimarzio so what if i puts a duncan in it??

  6. IMHO you will never get a MT2 to sound like a bogner.  Thats like asking someone to hot rod your pinto to perform like a lamborghini.  Just not gonna happen.  IMHO the MT2 sounds like an angry hive of bees, thats about it.  We are talking about tubes vs. solid state here and no solid state device will sound exactly like a bogner.

Not totally shooting down your idea, there may be some mods out there that will make an MT2 sound less "buzzier" but not like a bogner.  You may want to save your money and sample some other pedals such as the RAT, Fulldrive, MXR dist + etc.  You may find one that works for you.

What type of amp do you use?  If its a solid state 1 x 10" ibanez or something, no pedal will help you in your quest.  A great amp can make a crappy guitar sound great, but a crappy amp can make a super guitar sound like ka-ka.

    my 2cents.

hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

Hi and Hi really thanks for you guys to correct me hahaha i didnt know that this topic here would cause such big laughter here that warms up this place :D hehe thanks

well mmmm i use a laney VC30 here tops off with my jackson SL2H equipped with the wonder dimebucker at bridge and a jazz SH2N at neck am happy that my laney sounds much thicker than b4 by using a rough patch from Zoom 2000 pedals

well i would wanna invest into much better amps to quest for a much much fattier tone and meaty too yet much as i heard from my friend about getting an MT2 being sounds like a bogner hehehe i just have to take it just like it is on the webpage that i posted b4 mmmm he got some projects which he mods an MT2 that he describes it as a bogner type of tonality hahahah sorry if i were to cause u guys having a bad stomach after laughing that much haha LOL anyway please do hear the tone of from this link here

( too bad i am from singapore and i dont have the luxury to play or test any bogner or VHT or ENGL b4)

    http://www.indyguitarist.com/soundclips/mt2_Brad_1.mp3

which he describes as bogner and even diezel!! hahaha

so hope to hear from what u guys feel and have any to open my eyes wider on better amp tones and also having being modifiying any distortion pedals maybe not like thoese high amps nor even close but just to shape the tone for a soothing hear?? hehehe thanks for all you guys views and laughters !!! :D

  7. if laney pots are similar to others you won't do any good by spraying from the outside.  if any cleaner at all made it inside the pot i doubt that it would be enough to do any good so you'll probably have to go inside of the amp.

most pots have a small hole on the edge and you spray your cleaner there.  i use radio shack electronic cleaner but there are several brands on the market.

hi thanks a lot unclej so take out the rear covered panel to clean my pots there hehehe ok i got it :D thanks a lot

  8. i was wondering if anyone here does any modification to their boss MT2 to sound better fatter and meaner?? well if possible to share the kind load of modifications with us here?? if yes what are the mods for specific capaciotors? transistors? or resistors? and which block in the circuit to get down on?? kekeke

i have come to know of this website from my friend which i think is really intresting this guy mods almost anything!!! makes a MT2 sounds a bogner thick meaty chunky !!! burps sorry i am hungry now speaking of that check this out perhaps u guys here knows better than i am as a newbie here hahaha

here u go the links http://www.indyguitarist.com/mods.htm

it would be really nice to fine tune your distortion for your finest needs and would be also intresting to learn the trick behind sad but true i have lots to learn from please have me your saying?? :D:D

  9. Hi guys hehehe thanks for putting up with my post here :D anyway may i know how can i clean up my dirty pot for my laney VC30 amplifier? do i have to unscrew the covers that will expose the inside hidden part of the potentiometer? or i just need to unscrew the knobs and spray from outside without opening the covers??

or what sort of cleaning solution i can use that will actually widen the lifespan of the pots itself and as effective? :D

  10. If I understand the sequence of events correctly (and that's always open to debate), Dime used the Bill Lawrence 500XL (made by Bill Lawrence, not the USA guys who sell those wretched Swampkasters), but since Bill's operation was unable to supply the demand, and Bill was unwilling to complicate his life again to make the necessary expansion, SD was commissioned to produce a similar pickup for use in the signature Dimebag guitars. For what my opinion is worth, while I personally prefer the 500XL, the Dimebucker is a great pickup, and dismissing it as a copy of anything is doing it an injustice. It's certainly strong enough to stand on its own merits.

thanks for all your kind information on the dimebucker and bill lawrence :D well i admit that my previous ad was too harsh on duncan pickups so sorry for that yet i still like my dimebucker B) still i will venture out to try a bill lawrence L500 pickup i think bill lawrence is more of a customised pickup company hehe anyway please keep the post going and i would like to hear more of bill lawrence pickups and seymour duncan pickups :D

  11. This caused quite a conflict last time I saw this question posted. I think the basic answer is that the SD isn't really supposed to be a COPY of the BL version. It is supposed to be Dime's SD product - and I'll leave it at that.

For what it's worth, I have the Dimebucker installed in an all maple guitar and really like it. I have not tried the BL product but plan to.

Hi and thanks for ya info and views for a duncan dimebucker well i got my dimebucker as well slammed into my jackson sl2H and hell i like my current tone of my guitar :D so sorry i hope i didnt sound harsh when i said " seymour duncan is a replica of bill lawrence's L500 i am a duncan lover too :D much for this i just wanna find out more about bill lawrence's L500 pickup this is my first time knowing it after reading previous post from you guys here and i decided to get down registered and most to learn more from you guys here hehhee

so what do you guys here have to say for bill 's L500 ? i am planning to buy one too yet i am from southeast asia singapore would be harder for me though i guess kakaka

  12. The tension on the neck will not change.

That is only affected by the gauge of strings you use and the pitch to which you tune them.  The trem springs are only countering the string tension in order to keep the bridge floating level.

When you talk out being out of tune when you do extreme bends, are you referring to the floating bridge sagging forward?  That is a trait inherent to all fully-floating tremolos.

I have a Tremsetter on mine and it eliminates that problem, plus the guitar sustains much, much better.  B)

    Mike

oh hi mike :D thanks for ya really fast reply on my query :D yeah when i do my extreme bends the bridge did sags forward and i was thinking maybe a "tent " shaped springs settings placed a rather tighter condition therefore my bridge reacts better in returning to its original zero position when i release a bend .

  13. "In reply to ibanez crazy"

Hi there thanks for ya care to reply :D so i guess your playing at a tighter tension for a "tent" configuration . u did fine tune your truss rod and also bridge seems easier to set itself way back to the zero position??

i did have my springs setted for a parallel setttings after seeing many professional guitarist's pics but it didnt work out for me as my strings keep getting out of tune and when i do a dive my strings gets way off !! too

having my springs setted up in parallel was a way loose for the overall strings tension and my springs more prone to spring's squeals .

  14. Did you adjust the spring claw?  There's a difference in spring tension depending on how you set them up - parallel or "tent" configuration.

Hi dear bro ,thanks for ya views on this topic and replies ohh yeah your correct i did adjust my spring claw and i found out a theory behind this for parallel you gotta loosen the spring claw for a flush bridge tremolo where with a "tent" shaped the tension would be tighter when u need to tighten the spring claw . so much about this for a "tent" shaped set up now that my guitar is set for a tighter tension playing and strings being less out of tune when i do my so called extreme bending at higher frets .......

but will the tight tension of my spring setup place a comin treat to my trussrod?? and the ability of my neck to tolerate this higher tension thingy?? if there is a need for me to adjust my truss rod for that??

  15. :D Hi dear fellows i have a maybe rather stupid question to ask wonder if any would spend his or her time for this question? simple as this goes :

well days b4 i took out my tremolo for a clean up and also messed up with the springs original configuration anyway thats when my problem begun as i string back my guitar placing three of the springs in parallel , get the guitar tuned up setted my bridge's action and soon i realised that my guitar wont get in tune as it used to be when i do an extreme bending of my third G strings way up high at the 15 frets ....

soon after some research sending pretty much emails to floyd rose company and etc .. i then resetted my springs to a "tent" shaped configuration means three springs that spread out wide apart from a common point, i did my usual tune up reset my bridge action again to flush with my guitar body and sure it works that my guitar didnt get much out of tune as it was with the parallel springs settings ...

yet i have this query in mind that is its ok to get my springs setted to a "tent" shaped configuration or it must be the good old parallel springs settings? i'll hope u guys can give me a better understanding of my jackson SL2H's tremolo spring's setup :D

  16. B) hello guys here !! nice to meet u all i am from singapore well i have come to read of the previous post stated that the dimebucker by seymour duncan was a replica of bill lawrence's L500 pickup and i would like to know if there are still any difference between the both?? what would you recommend if i were to put both dimebucker by seymour duncan and bill lawrence's L500 to a all out test?? a win win situation or win lose?? would like to hear from u guys views here :D cause i just upgraded my SL2H to a dimebucker hehehe :D
