  1. Hello all,

I was almost done my project, but after a nice screw-up, I needed to restart.

Anyway, I was simply wondering; Would it be ok if I sprayed a light coat of polyurethane

over my first coat of paint, then light sanded the poly, and completed another coat of dupli-color spray?

In short, Can I spray dupli-color colour coat, over a coat of polyurethane??

    Thanks a bunch.

I will send good tidings to all those who can help! :D

Oh, one more thing. Will the coat of poly fill in any minor scratches??

  2. Hi,

I opened up an old strat copy and noticed I had a cap on both tone pots.

All the schematics I searched on this forum only show a cap on one pot.

    What should I do?

    Am I correct when saying:

    A) Tone pots and volume pots are the same hardware

:D What makes them different is when you solder the cap on the pot,

it turns it into a tone pot

    Thanks!

  3. Thank you both for the feedback and i have taken note of the pic sizes.Sgnt.Pepper i liked your design.but i think you sould try something like this

Dont know if its possible,or how you would go about doing it, mabey paper instead of material?

anyone have any ideas. Can you use paper?

I love it. If only I could figure out how to properly do it!

    Thanks for the great idea.

Are you going ahead with your design??

  4. 1) Tung Oil does not darken wood very much. More coats won't make a big difference.

    2) Your stain may not have taken due to a number of factors. I suspect bad wood prep. You must sand to the bare wood at about 220 grit, then stain. Depending on the type of wood, you may have different results.

    :D

    Thanks for the reply.

I did sand with 220 but it appears that there is some sort of coating

over the wood. I don't feel a grain.

    No idea! :D

  5. Hello all,

I applied about 4 coats of tung oil to my stripped guitar body and I doesn't seem to be absorbing extremely well, but it does dry up enough. Anyway, having said that, will it darken with several more coats of tung oil? I've already tried a search but could not come up with an answer!

How many coats are recommended to really darken it up (if that's the solution)?

    Thanks very much.

    I forgot, one thing...

I have a great water based stain that I'd love to use. I tried staining before the tung oil and it really didn't take well, so I sanded down again and started the tung oil finish. Does anyone have any advice on getting this thing to take the stain. It's a cheap piece of wood (maybe alder), it's a Peavey if that helps.

I'd love to stain it in blue and coat it with the oil. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

  6. Maiden69 -> very well put.

And crafty, yes I am a lawyer, and I have been for almost 6 months now.

I am new in the field, but if I quit today, I'd still have 6 more months than you.

And you should watch what you say about Cracker Jack, those comments could get you into a lot of trouble! Unbelievable! :D

  7. Hey, Pepper. Comment was not directed at you to piss you off.....Just heads up for future reference.

Downloading something for free still beats hours of playing around with Illustrator or so.

I have found BOW.com to be extremely helpfull, specially if you want to adjust a current design/brand/logo to fit your needs.

    :D

    Hey RGGR,

Thanks for the post. The website you mentioned is great, I never knew about it, but I'm glad I do now.

I'm sure tons of people like myself never knew about it. Sometimes people take shots at other who are just trying to help. Anyway, take care, and keep rocking.

  8. Thanks for the welcome to this site. I love all the tips, and "work in progress" tutorials and images!

    Crafty,

Re-creating corporate logos for personal use is by no means illegal. Trust me, I am a lawyer.

I can re-create as many logos as my heart desires and make as many posters or guitar heads as my heart desires, as long as I do not intend to make any financial gains from doing so.

    Secondly,

There was no mention of how much I would sell them for because there was no mention made of me selling anything. I said I would like to contrubute them as a sign of gratitude for all the work people put into this great forum.

    Thirdly,

You made no gripe when mentioned earlier (by someone else), that these logos can be downloaded from another site. So what's the big deal with me saying I can give them away?

    Here's a tip;

Don't waste your energy picking on a new guy, because you never know who's on the other end. Just because I may be new to this forum, it does not mean that I am a 12 year old scammer. Not to say that all minors are scammers, and not to say that it is ok to pick on a young new comer.

If you don't want the logos, skip to the next thread. Also, you mentioned that you responded because I made this thread. Correct indeed. However, my thread said, "let me know if you would like these logos". Id did not state "let me know if you think this is a dumb waste of time".

  9. <GuitarGuy>,

Thank you for being logical and appreciative. I simply stated that I appreciated all the great advice and posts on here, and unlike so many other, I actually tried to offer something back to all the users.

The response from a thread like this was unbelievable, and it's no wonder why people only care about themselves and rarely offer kind gestures to others. :D

    <Crafty>

Some people, like myself, may use them for their refinished headstocks, posters, whatever.

Use your imagination. The exact same reason that someone said you can download them from a logo site.

Why did you not respond to that post like you did to mine?
