I'd say go with non-symmetry. I've seen some symmetrical guitars, lately, and personally, was turned off by them. God I miss my Hamer SATF!

If it is the same stuff I just shot a week ago, you are gonna want to sand it smooth, and shoot white over it. It is like a high-solid primer, and is rather coarse, when dry. However, it DID give me a nice white base to shoot my color coat over.

You should be able to clearcoat over that, but since it is a newer guitar, I would think it would have a poly finish. Minwax DOES make a clear poly, in a spray can. Maybe that's the way to go.
Personally, I'd get rid of the signature, if it was me. If that's not why you bought it, use it for your intentions. I'm personally not a big fan of them, anyway, but to each his own, right?
