anyway good luck with your build! keen to see more. like the inlay idea btw.
Thanks! The wave inlay is actually a rip off too. I was inspired by Canuck Brian and Metal Matt.

Looks good so far. I'd like it better if it was a flying-v modification, but that's just me.
Good luck with it.

Ya as for bridge idea i think afew luthiers use them.
Yeah, they look cool and as the bass is fretless there's no need to worry about the intonation that much.
Nice woods... Nice name... not sure why you'd wanna be called after a bacteria... but hey! all to their own!Good luck with it... keep us updated

Hehe, me neither. But thanks anyway.

This is coming along very nicely! What was that fretboard again?

Looks like 5-string fretless are becoming the in thing .. I'm planning one too .. and I'm hoping to make my own bridge ... Mine will be very slow coming, so I'll be interested to see how yours comes along.
Cool! As this is my first project it won't probably be so fast either. My goal is to have it finished by summer, but we'll see.

r the strings going to be spaced that far apart or is that how thrown together the pic was
the bridge idea is mad
ill be watching it
Just thrown in. String spacing will be 18mm or less.
Idea for the bridge is actually stolen from AV-Bass. This guy builds awesome basses, check him out.

Hi! I'm starting my first build from scratch. It's going to be a 5 string fretless and here's the woods I'm using.
In the background there's african mahogany and bubinga and in the front wenge and castello.
Some specs:
scale: 35"
body: mahogany back / bubinga top
neck: wenge
fingerboard: castello
pickup: hopefully home-made
bridge: hopefully home-made too (from wenge)
The look I'm going for is something like this. The pic is just a quick mock-up so everything is just thrown in to show how it looks like.
I'm going to dye the castello fretboard black and probably do a faux binding and the wave-inlay. And because the bubinga and mahogany are pretty much the same color I thought I'd dye the bubinga red to make it stand out better. Probably a faux binding in the joint also.
So, what do you think?
Cheers, Timi

Yeah, I noticed this too. Here the price has doubled!

Dang, that's beautiful! I wanna know the final budjet! Can't be under 200$!
-
Wow, very cool and unique finish! Congrats!

I like the design.. On the bass and on the site.
-
The neck joint looks cool. Any pics from the front?
-
Looks great Jon!
-
This is going to be awesome!
-
It's rosewood but it is pretty dark
Close enough.
-
Looks great! I hope the fretboard is ebony.
-
I'm really looking forward to see this finished! Great job with the 8-stringer.
About the design.. I think that the "theme" of the lower horn should cover the whole body.. If you know what I mean. Some wicked cut outs like in this one:
Good luck with it.

i just bought a korina jackson KV with no paint, all natural, so ive got my fill of natural grain for now
KV1? They kick ass!
-
Go for the Honey Burst!
-
Looks great Mike! I like the desing, the woods and how the waves match at the end of the fretboard and bottom of the body. This is going to be a killer!
-
Apart from the painted headstock back it looks killer! That pickguard idea is great!
-
Better.

Looking good so far
..but could you do something with those thumbnails? That jumping annoys a lot and makes the site messy.
