@ Campylobacter: about selling the 'test' piece, give me 30€ and it's yours. (the neck and the wings) But how would I give it you? Send it? You wanna come and get it?
Well, I'm kinda "pers'auki" at the moment. I just mailed Viilukeskus for some prices for the woods I'm going to use in my bass. Birdseye maple fretboard, wenge neck, mahogany-walnut-mahogany body..
I could buy it, but not right now.

@ Campylobacter How much would you be willing to pay? Woods: 15 euros and work... 1 euro?
Something like that.
-
I've been thinking about the woods on this thing and I have decided to trash this project and start all over again with better materials.
If you decide to trash it I could buy it for some euros.

Looking good!

Great story and awesome guitar!
-
Some progress again. I reshaped the headstock and unfortunately fretboard took some new shapes too.

The guitar in the pic you posted is actually Jackson's RR, not flying V.
-
Very nice! I like it.
-
Hmmm Agathis?
Probably.

What wood do you guys think that is?
-
How about that bridge? Is the neck without an angle and how deep is the hole for the bridge?
-
Damn those woods looks great! And I like the body shape also.
-
Looks great man! Especially those flamed maple wings.
-
That's amazing! Can't wait to see it finished!
-
Pretty darn good looking woods you have there! I like it very much.
-
I've decided to go with black-green crackled finish on the body, so it would look something like this. I also managed to buy some parts for it. And here's a close up of the abalone knob.

Looks great man!

I don't know if you have seen a Kelly? Because the one on that pic is way out of proportion and shape! My guess is that it is freehanded. I did mine from a drawing and it turned out a few mm apart from a real one (just checked at a local music store here! The owner liked mine better than Jacksons!) Here is a pic of it.

Very nice! How did you finish the top?
-
That's amazing!! Not helping my bass building fever!
Umm... Pretty old thread.
-
Has anyone made schematics for this preamp?
-
I suggest you to link those pictures first: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=11235
Try crackled finish on it.

if you can find ebony stain use that....pretty obvious i guess. you made need a pre-stain primer type thing because rosewood is pretty oily ( if i recall correctly) and with additional finger grease it may be pretty tough for the stain to take evenly. dark walnut works good too but is a little less black then ebony.
Thanks, I'll see what I can find.
I have heard only good things about LMI's fingerboard dye. You might want to give it a try. The link to the webiste is here. Make sure to check the tutorial on how to ebonize wood.
Thanks for the hint, but I won't be ordering it all the way from USA to this project.

I added you to my MSN contacts to ease the talking.
Thanks.
TOM needs the neck-angle, but you can also recess it.
