  1. Viilukeskus is in Turku, right ? When/if you get the prices on those, can you let me know too?

Gotta buy some mahogany and maple. Or walnut and maple. Or... or....

And good luck with that wenge neck! It's gonna be hell working with it. :D

About the guitar... Is there gonna be a problem with using a tune-o-matic (stringthrough) on a neckthrough?

I think I read somewhere that it is too tall. If so, can I just simply do a recess for the bridge?

I added you to my MSN contacts to ease the talking.

    Thanks. :D

TOM needs the neck-angle, but you can also recess it.

  2. @ Campylobacter: about selling the 'test' piece, give me 30€ and it's yours. (the neck and the wings) :D But how would I give it you? Send it? You wanna come and get it?

Well, I'm kinda "pers'auki" at the moment. B) I just mailed Viilukeskus for some prices for the woods I'm going to use in my bass. Birdseye maple fretboard, wenge neck, mahogany-walnut-mahogany body.. :D

I could buy it, but not right now. :D

    [/offtopic] B)

  3. I don't know if you have seen a Kelly? Because the one on that pic is way out of proportion and shape! My guess is that it is freehanded. I did mine from a drawing and it turned out a few mm apart from a real one (just checked at a local music store here! The owner liked mine better than Jacksons!) Here is a pic of it.

Very nice! :D How did you finish the top?

  4. if you can find ebony stain use that....pretty obvious i guess. you made need a pre-stain primer type thing because rosewood is pretty oily ( if i recall correctly) and with additional finger grease it may be pretty tough for the stain to take evenly. dark walnut works good too but is a little less black then ebony.

Thanks, I'll see what I can find.

I have heard only good things about LMI's fingerboard dye. You might want to give it a try. The link to the webiste is here. Make sure to check the tutorial on how to ebonize wood.

Thanks for the hint, but I won't be ordering it all the way from USA to this project. :D
