I am building a jazz bass and am not sure about the best position to place my pickups. Is there an optimum position from the bottom of the bridge that they should be placed to achieve the best sound or is it a case of pot luck. My bass is 34" scale.

I am making my bass neck at the moment and was wondering if anyone knows what is a good thickness to leave in between the bottom of the truss rod channel and the underside of the neck.

Considering that the neck tapers it would be interesting to hear what people think the minimum distance can be?

ok tht is good but as i am new to this wht is the best type to truss rod for a bass?

I am building a bass guitar at the minute and cannot decide whether or not to fit a truss rod. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with advice or suggestions on how I should go about this matter? Is it worth fitting a truss rod in the first place? What type? Past experiences with a similar matter? Thanks a lot
