I recently used killemall's method on a V and it worked fine.
But I had to start the project again .. turns out the template I made was based on a RR type V, and not the Alexi V my son wants to emulate
So second time around I used a large chamfer bit just for the experience. I used double-sided tape to attach a straight edge / guide to the face of the guitar and ran the router along that. The guide was set so that it would be a deeper cut at the tips, and fading away to just a couple of milimetres at the neck.
Both methods worked fine ... but the chamfer bit provided a slightly cleaner, more professional line.
A word of warning though, if you're going to put a jack in the side of the guitar as opposed to the face you'll need to carefully map out whether you'll have enough space between the top and bottom chamfers ... if you do both faces as I did.
Thanks guys for the replies. I am going to try to duplicate the KK Downing Hamer Mini V.

What would be the easiest approach on technique and tools for beveling the edge of a Vee shaped guitar? RR type V.

How long do you leave the shoe polish on neck before you remove it? Thanks.

Does anybody know how to wire an import 5 way selector switch for strat. I'm in need of assistance in wiring one of these. My setup is a standard 3 pickups, 1 vol., 2 tones. I know how to wire the basic 5 way switch that has the 4 soldering lugs on opposites sides. But this import 5 way switch has 8 soldering lugs in a straight line. Each soldering lug is labeled as:
12300123
I am using an allparts YM-50 switch. Link : http://www.allparts.com/categories.php?cat...t_name=SWITCHES
Thanks,
That's got two poles. You only need one. Connect the pickups to 1, 2, and 3 then the ouput is at the corresponding 0. The switch will automatically short the proper terminals in positions 2 and 5. I just pulled a very similar switch out of a Yamaha. Of course, it's always better to beep it out yourself than take my word for it.
What about the two wires that go to each Tone control? Like you see on regular Fender strat wiring.
Thanks

Is it possible to get a mirror gloss finish with Deft if properly buffed? If so what steps should I take. What type of course sanding paper should I use etc? I'm trying to redue a Aria Pro II TS-400. I want the grain to show.
Thanks,

Need help with this one. I installed 3 Red Lace Sensors in my strat. I have a humming noise now. Well according to Lace I cannot have 3 hot lace pickups together. They suggested I replace my middle and neck pickup to a lower output pickup to reduce noise. Instead of replacing the neck and my middle pickup can I just bring down the 15K output of the Lace Sensors using resistors? Or that will not work? Please HELP.
