  1. thank you very, the response to the second question was quite helpful, but for the 1st, maybe im just confused, or maybe its because i have little idea of how this grounding works, but the wire that runs to the input jack of the pedal is already connected to the common ground on the circuit board, so wouldn't wiring it to the ground in the guitar create a ground loop (or something)? pardon me for my confusion

here is a rudimentary drawing of my question, the problem highlighted in red

  2. I'm currently in the process of installing a pedal inside my guitar, but i have a couple of questions about the grounding.

    1) Since the guitar signal will be wired directly to the input (of the pedal), there will be nothing touching the ground connector on the input jack (of the pedal). The battery wire also connects to this ground, so i figure that its important that it wire somewhere, so where does it go?

    2) I took the pedal out of its casing but plugged it into my effects chain. I experienced a terrrrible buzz until i reseated the circuit board so that it was touching the casing, and the buzz stoped and the normal signal resumed, so im guessing that the board needs to be grounded. Is it as simple as taking the common ground on the circuit board and wiring it to the ground inside the guitar (volume pot)?

Thats all for now, thank you very much, im quite inexperienced!

  3. you can use screws or pickup rings both will work. The screws will replace the bolts and be screwed directly into the guitar body the more you turn them into the body the lower the pickup will be. Or you can go with single coild pickup rings.

    Hope that helps

i dont want to buy pickup rings, but if i use screws would i also need to insert springs so that the height remains adjustable (the screws currently thread through the pickups)

  4. Hi everyone, I am very confused as to how I am supposed to mount 2 single coil sized pickups into my guitar body. (The pickups are Dimarzio Chopper and Dimarzio Pro Track, and the body is new, and has 2 routed holes for pickups and has no pickguard). I just cant figure out how I mount these pickups to the wood while still being able to adjust the height of the pickup. Any help is appreciated

  5. I am looking for a SPDT center on switch, just like a classic Gibson 3 way selector swithch, the only problem is the holes in my guitar are only a 1/4 inch, and the Gibson switch requires 1/2, and i dont want to drill bigger holes. I cant find a 1/4 inch SPDT center on switch anywhere, does anyone know where i can find one or am i just going to have to drill bigger holes?

  6. Hi all. I am new to the custom guitar and in particular the wiring of the electronics. I plan on setting up a humbucker humbucker humbucker body, according to http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schem...g_schematic.pdf

I also read the posts here on the black ice overdrive, and plan to build one on my own, and not to open any old wounds, but I have a question about this. Based on the schematic above, is it possible to add another tone pot for use as a control over the black ice overdrive, while keeping the other tone pot independent for merely tone control, and if yes, could someone briefly explain how to connect this into the circuitry? Sorry if I missed something in the other topics, but im pretty sure this is different.
