How could the nut slot become more shallow over time?
He said it used to intonate, but not now...
-
Did you just replace the strings?
You may simply have a bum string.
This could happen to an old string as well.
It's pretty pointless to try to intonate a guitar using old strings....
-
There are some pictures of actual SawStop saves here.
Yeah, I would rather have a nick than a stump......
-
Excellent! A table saw with a self-destruct mechanism in the event of damp wood, or anything conductive as "a salty sausage". Har har har.
"Salty sausage"
That just gives me visuals about something that should NEVER come in contact with a power tool.....

I know he's only sketching, but he's verbalizing ideas that are a little backwards, and I simply wanted to point that out.
Sketch all you want.
The sketching however, cannot monopolize the outcome.
At some point, reality has to be placed before concept.
-
What you need to do, is draw the position of your nut and bridge.
Then design the body around that.
It's quite backwards to design a body, and then try to fit the important elements to that...

I want the neck angle for sound factors. It gives you more bass correct?
Tone voodoo...
Where did you hear that the angle of the neck changes the tone?
-
Contact the manufacturer.

Touche'.....

Not to mention, the Warmoth 24 fret extension covers part of the neck p/u cavity....
No p/u in the neck position.
-
Lower the bridge/saddles....?

Given all these pros and cons I think it's worth investing a little time in a few experiments to see if it can become a regular material for my future projects...
Thanks again guys for all you insight...
Tim
Given all the pros and cons, I don't understand why you still want to experiment.
All the pros can be achieved by simply inserting CF rods in your neck.
So, all the pros, without any of the cons.
No experimentation needed....

"more reassurance about your meat".
OK, that just sounds wrong.......
-
Maybe leave the strips in some hot water?
-
Is that a big, bad sag below the trem route?
-
I think you answered your own question.
There is no wood on the cutaway side, thus there is room for the neck to move.
As far as I can tell, all you have to do is pull the neck towards you (if you're sitting at it like in the picture). This should place the neck perfectly in the pocket.
And if your template was placed correctly, the neck will be aligned with the body. If your neck is aligned with the body now, then you have some issues...
-
I know you're not new to this, but it seems the distance between the end of the fretboard and the bridge is really short.
Is the scale length right, or is it just an optical illusion?
There just seems to be so little space between the bridge and the neck. I'm just picturing trying to fit another HB and SC in there (HSH set up), and it looks impossible.....
-
You have nut issues.
Wow, getting personal, eh?
-
That being said, there's nothing wrong with using a biscuit or three.
Depends on what you're doing.
There was an example on here a few years ago. The guy thought it was a good idea to use biscuits, until the time came to carve the top.
Guess what ended up showing through the carve?

To go with the asymmetrical head....

It's not a Bigsby, it's a Kahler....
