hehe its a cheat im afraid. the front of the core is all curvy, but theres a 7mm lip and the wings join on to a nice straight but underneath.

lapsteel sides have been thinned down to size. but it doesnt look any different to the last pic so theres not much point in another

holly has binding (not trimmed yet), pickguard cut, neck pocket, neck (no pic yet) and control cavity cut.

nothing too exciting. didnt have much time today so just got holly body cut out

alder blank is gluing up now.

bit of work on the lapsteel. the wings need thicknessing (a LOT!!!) but this is what it will look like. with a board. and a walnut tailpiece. obviously.

I also like the headstock. But will it fit a tele?

Teles always got a certain classic workhorse-appeal,

the headstock almost seems to be slightly to modern and elegant.

Just a thought though, but i guess that you have planed it out

enough to make it fit and if not you can always change it in the process anyway.

Looking forward to seeing more of that.

ah but its not a slab tele-style. its gonna be a bit curvy and contoured so it SHOULD fit. i hope.

got the centre section of the lapsteel cut out and the sides are having their tops glued on as we speak

made templates today for two new projects - the first outings for two new models - the tele-like 'holly' and a lapsteel based on my 'deco' designs

the holly will most likely be an esquire version. im thinking baby blue with white binding. but it might change. body's alder, neck maple/rosewood (shock horror!!!)

lapsteel has rippled sycamore core with limba/walnut sides and walnut board (will have maple 'frets' and markers)

mine wont!! hehe.

finally got it done and strung up with 11's. sounds nice and big and sustains for rather a long time hehe

heres the inlay and side 12th inlay

for some reason it reacted and went all bumpy and crazed. but somehow it just peeled off down to the layer just above the colour. dont ask my how or why. i used the same stuff on all the coats.

i virtually had to refinish the whole thing after the clear coat went mental for some reason. luckily it didnt go all the way down to the colour. but got it polished up today (well the top and headstock anyway, the rest is staying satin). the burst is still there, just the sun bleaches it out

sod the maple, where did you get the limba!!!!!!

ahh that looks much better. colour scheme seems to suit it a lot better now - matches the fretboard too

hehe. theres not much to it really. theres a guy in wales whos on a couple of muse boards who programmed a midi circuit board and i just get everything from him and he tells me how to wire it. i wouldnt have a clue!

but it works. and is much less of a gimmick than you'd think. i thought it would be, and so did the guy whos whammy i tested it on, until we tested it and now hes ordered one too.

when i start doing his i might put some pics of it up

other things have taken up my time - (two guitars with touchscreens, damn matt bellamy) but this ones now almost there. just waiting for a nut.

its very easy to cut. quite soft. well, the one that iv done anyway. im guessing its all the same

oak fretboard but i think the neck was a mahogany fireplace or something.

the first time i used the stewmac nippers was on stainless wire and it was the last time i used it too. i dont know if i was unlucky or not but the wire made a big dent in them and made them unuseable. i just file them off. time consuming but o well
