  1. I saw that but I'm not sure how to interpret that. I'm not sure which one of those wires is red white or bare.

For the pickup, the red is the hot, bare wire to ground and tape off the white. The red hot wire corresponds to the north start wire in the diagram.

  2. Yeah it seems people assume that because you built it it's for sale or something. I play one at a gig and people are just randomly like "so how much do you want for it?" as I think to myself, "umm yeah I never said it's for sale".

I mean people don't just randomly ask people if they want to sell their PRS's or taylors :D

Perhaps they also assume you can just build another one.

  3. I will be painting my Guitar and was wondering is this it: I need Grain Filler, one can, do I need Sand Filler? Re Ranch Paints, 2 cans, then 2 cans of clear coat. What type of clear coat should I get, this it other than sand paper, etc?

You will only need grain filler for open pore woods like Mahogany. What is the body wood?

  4. Guitar amps typically have a speaker that is designed specifically for guitar - if you have a cab model enabled on the pod there may be too much level for certain frequencies causing the boomy sound. Ideally it should work well with the cab model disabled and allow the guitar amp to color the sound with it's amp/speaker.

  5. sorry I forgot to mention that. I am getting a new neck. I'm not that stupid to cut the existing neck. I'm still doing some research on the neck. I know Warmoth sells the 25.5" neck with 24 fret extension, but that still means I have to move the neck pup back, which is not a concern for me. I might just keep it at 22 frets either way, the stock neck that I have has got to go. I will make sure the neck will fit into a Ibanez Js-100 body before I buy it. I'm in no rush to get this project finished so I'm being really careful on what I'm doing.

You can do yourself a big favor and have Doug at Soulmate make you a neck for that body. Its only about a $25 dollar difference from a Warmoth tilt back headstock style neck and he will level the frets at no extra charge. And you will probably get it a lot quicker.

  6. If the nut has a flat bottom you may want to take the material from the bottom of the nut vs trying to file each slot. Just place sandpaper on a very flat surface and take a little at a time by sliding it back and forth over the sandpaper and test it.

Won't quite work if the problem is that the slots aren't deep enough to hold the strings properly.

True..but a pre slotted nut should accept a 10-46 string set without a problem, well for a graphtech one anyway.

  7. Assuming its a single volume/tone with a 3 way switch configuration, Just move the tone wire from the volume to the neck pickup connection of the 3 way switch. You will still have tone control on the neck or middle switch position but not when the bridge pickup is selected.
