  1. Hi,

    Looking for some tips.

I can't figure out how to inlay a radiused fretboard properly. Do I just cut the depth as normal and then sand the heck out of the protruding sides

of the inlay to get it flush? Or should I route deep keeping the sides of the shell level with the board and the center of the shell low needing a lot of CA to build up to the board.

    Thanks

  2. The kit has no name. The neck extension is about a 16/th of an inch from touching the inside tail block.

The two trapezoid pieces are about an 1/8 too thick from going between the back body and the neck stick.

I apologize for the photo but it is only 95k. It is smaller than other photos posted as images on this site. I originally used image ready to reduce the resolution too keep the file size small so as not to slow up bandwith but the pic still comes out large looking. I will make my photos smaller if I post anymore images.

    Thanks

  3. Hi,

I purchased this kit on ebay and there are no instructions for it. I am a complete beginner and bought the kit so I could practice doing inlay work on an unfinished guitar. I download some instructions from stew mac for one of their kits but it the neck attachment is different. I really need to know how to fasten the neck to the body and what type of glue I should use. There is also two pieces of wood as pictured in the kit that I have no clue as to what they are for. There is binding also but is it for the neck or the guitar. Is the trussrod adjustable some how?

  4. The Kit has no name could be homemade. The neck is round. The body is is already made. My concern is the neck. I do not think it is a bolt on as it has a square rod attached to it that fits inside the guitar body. I am trying to figure out how to attach the neck. Perhaps it gets glued along the inside back wall of the body??

I just need to know how to attach and what type of glue to use. I could post pics if that helps?

    Thanks

  5. Just received my materials from Stew Mac and rescue pearl. Still awaiting on the ebony head plates from colonial tonewoods.

Watched the Larry robinson DVD part 1 and enjoyed it.

The MOP from rescue pearl is real nice and at a great price considering I only ordered an ounce and delivery was real fast for standard delivery. Great people at rescue pearl.

I also ordered 1 ounce of red abalone from Stew Mac and it is so so but I obviously am no expert. Small pieces with voids. I expected more for the price and am a bit dissapointed.

I better get started on my designs.

Thanks again for all your help.

  6. Hi,

I Want to inlay a cover for my 2001 314 taylor. Should I make a cover from scratch or are there

    blanks available somewhere.

I did ask earlier about existing neck inlaying but decided to start with the covers first.

If I have to make, what type of would is suggested, thickness etc.

Do I stain before or after the inlay.

    Clearcoat or not?

I am open to recommendations for any suppliers for materials

    in the U.S.

    Thanks

    Dave
