I built my youngest son a 80% sized strat and am currently in the process of building another one, this time 90% size. Tis quite fun...but, making a new tremolo bridge will be challenging.

Quale...I am in Stavanger...

That's grand Andy H...and thank you!

Actually, it depends a bit on the type of plastic used. I've found that original Fender ones hardly take staining from tea, coffee, shoe polish and what have you. That's why I ended up with smoke! (see above)

Johnny, me being a noggie too. I made a PRS type guitar 10 years ago. It has carved top, custom inlays, etc. Let me know if you want to know more about it.

It is! I use smoke from an incense stick...works really well. I have pictures in here somewhere:

Bob Benedetto made an archtop from (seasoned) construction grade pine wood. Didn't look much, but he said tonal qualities were on par with the traditional woods he used. Even though he's an extremely capable luthier, I can't see no reason a good piece of pine shouldn't work for the rest of us too.

Dear all,
thank you for nice feedback. I am currently on easter holiday, but will get back with you all next weekend. Have also decided to expand drawing with more neck profiles, more measurements, etc.

I did...actually, it's for sale...
I LOVE THAT SURF GREEN STRAT! AWESOME RELIC! Did you do it??
If you didn't... IT'S STILL AWESOME!

That is an idea. But, I am new here and need to figure out how to and if I want to do it.
Me three.
Hey, why not submit the plans to Brian and see if he'll put them in the advanced section?

I got tired of searching for a decent drawing of a strat, so last night I finished a cad drawing based on my SRV strat. It has all measurements and is even a logo...hee hee....
Anyone interested please let me know!
Here's a snapshot of a part of the drawing + some pics of my latest projects:

Some of the first Fenders were made with pine bodies. I've used pine too. Currently doing a body made from spruce and another from redwood.
