  1. hey just thought id add a question of my own here, iv heard tube amps clip asymmetrically, in a standard overdrive/ distortion stompbox you can add an extra diode to make it clip asymmetrically, im curious to which way around this should be placed. in other word the extra diode would be placed in series with that of one of the existing diodes if i were using something like this would i place it in series with the top or bottom diode?

  2. "Thats a baritone guitar not a bass (i dont care what musicman call it), but the idea of using a normal electric bridge is good as long as you can enlarge the string holes for the bass strings"

it can be used as a baritone or as a bass tuned to e, this is acording to guitarist magizine but now that i look at the scale length i see what you mean. i like Scott's suggestion but is it just me or do they seem quite expensive?

  3. try reading this it could also be because you are switching from high to low gain ( i think the jcm2000 marshalls had that problem) geofex is a great site for anything to do with guitar electroninics, as its liad out in iframes you wont see it all go to www.geofex.com

  4. as this is a kit i would assume that the thin pieces of wood would be quite prone to warping and think its definatley worth worring about, im not that much of and expert on wood but as its going from a low to high humidity its obvious that it will absorb so mositure, what affect this will actualy have i dont know as the affects of taking up and giving out mositure could be different for all i know, but id still be worried about warping

  5. i thought the "mirror" jem used the same material for the top as well as the pickguard, i dont know how large you can buy sheets of that material but its the best way to get a mirror finish that will last, however you say your guitar is a strat style so you may have problems with the radiused edges. there is a guy here that was making a mirror jem but i cant remember who they but they were building another guitar ay the same time if that helps

  6. yeh dave grohl has quite a few, this may be of interest i found it on the ampeg site

    "Dan Armstrong Reissue Guitar

Ampeg is reissuing the Ampeg Dan Armstrong acrylic guitar which features a completely unique body made of an eye-catching clear Plexiglas material that eliminates unwanted vibrations and frequencies, while producing tremendous sustain. The Ampeg Dan Armstrong guitar also features a removable pickup system that allows users to choose between two different hand-made pickups—the faithfully recreated Rock Treble pickup and a new dual blade Rock Sustain pickup."

i remember reading that small scratches can simply be polished out of a lucite guitar if thats of any interest

  7. aux is short for auxilary and its what u plug your cd player or metronome into

about the footswitch i dont know if theres a foot switch socket at the back it could be a bit of a pain to do

  8. from what you said about what you want the trem to do id say you would definately need a locking trem system, the wilkenson is good but if your doing heavey trem stuff you need a locking system. my recomendation is to save up for a real flyod but some of the other guys around here may be able to suggest an good alternative locking system mabey this one clicky

  9. a closed back cab may help in this situation as there more "directionial" with thier sound, if you check out celestions site there stuff about how a more efficient speaker can double the apparent volume, rember loundness is measured in decibels not watts, i used to have trouble cutting through with my old line 6 spider it was 120watts but even though i turned up the volume i couldnt seem the "punch through"

  10. the plating on jacks can be worn down after time due to pluging in and unpluging, when you play do you thread your lead through your strap? if not you may want to look at the jack when its plugged in and wiggle the cable about to see if it comes lose and loses contact. if this is the case simply push the metal contact inwards to give a better connection. you may think the physical connection is fine but iv seen this kind of promblem quite a few times
