Yeah,

Everything from templates sliding around to that little sleve on template bits riding up. Its usually neck pockets getting chewed up. Makes me want to reconsider using a chisel. Then again, from what I understand, if you take your time, its really not that hard.

I'm glad this came up, I was yea-close to buying one of those 45˚ cutters myself. Let me add this, I've seen a lot of tutorials promoting the use of round over bits witn a router to round off a body. Is this still a suggested method, you would you all suggest rounding the body by hand?

I've seen many a bodys ravaged by an out of controll router!

I think the fretboard must be ebony... Though how he got the letters to float in fixed positions is beyond me. Is that something you do with a router and template?

Probably the best (and most usefull so far) thing that I learned was learning Maj7, Min7, and Dom7 chords and all their inversions up the neck. I like melodic chord progressions a lot, and its definately made studying jazz a lot easier.

The second inversion of a Maj7 with its bass note on the 6th string is a handfull:

Dmaj7/A

e:x

B:3

G:6

D:4

A:x

E:5

I like playing it and asking other musicians what they thought it was. It puts the 1st and the 7th degrees right next to eachother, and the semi-tone relationship sounds really dissonant. "Ew! That must have been some nasty diminished chord, right?", "Erm, no, just a major chord, sorry!"

Sharpie?

I've never had trouble with sharpie ink falling off of anything, but I guess it could rub off over time. I immagine you could lacquor over sharpie...

I have a hipshot detuner (low E to D tuneing peg) on my Tele, but I dont use it as much as I use to. I think those massive B-benders look cool though.

Um, I love that Fender Twin clean tone. I have a 100w Twin Amp, and its great. Not the worlds best distortion, but the gain boost on the clean channel... Its so wonderfull...

I'm listening to one of Alex's songs from his website (Alone in a Crowd), and it was wondering how the (and sorry for the term) cheezy, tokin 80's guitar harmonies were done. Are they playing a 3rd appart or something like that? Diatonic, or a fixed interval?

I have a heavy, metal slide that I like to tap the strings with with my picking hand (with the slide on), especially at the 12th fret, its like turbo octives. Sounds kinda wierd versus taping with your fingers.

I put chrome skull knobs on my Tele, they look pretty sharp, but they keep getting hung up on the controll plate screws!

I snagged an old Roland Double Beat off of a friend of mine. He he he. Its older than dirt, but has a nice thick, snappy sound. A fun peadle. Whistles really loud when you put the wah pedal all the way down.

Hey, also, when useing Tung Oil, do you need to use a filler? I also assume that you can oil over a stain. Right now I'm thinking of a basswood body with a flamed maple top (I've heard this lends to a even tone, good for many styles), and a maple, mohogany laminate neck. I know bass wood is soft, and a hard finish is reccomended, but it may not matter as it will only be visible on the back...

I dunno...

I gotta find out what stain he used...

It also looks like the pickups and trem are brown, does anybody else see that?

Um... You should check out the tutorials on this site, they are very good, and answered most of my questions. Also, go to the references section and read EVERYONES website and guitar how-to's, then come back here for more specific questions. Thats what I'm up to anyhow!
